This is the last drop /.

  • Fuck you /. This is the last drop of shit I'm taking from Slashdot. After +10 years reading the site, this just popped up:

    Never again.

  • It took you this long?

I still have it on my RSS reader, so I guess I'm hypocrite-o, but goddmaned. That site went to shit about 5-7 years ago.

  • Well, I'm not too critic and they still had some good content randomly, but this... Oh wait, Twitter!

  • Discourse touched me in a no-no place

“¡Su teléfono está muy lento y es necesario borrar la caché, eliminar los archivos basura, liberar la memoria RAM y el espacio de almacenamiento!”

@translator, what do you make of that?

  • FoxDev

Seems @translator's not well at the moment…

appsliu.com? My quills are twitching with suspicion…

  • Discourse touched me in a no-no place

I was interested to see what it would make of the mixture of Spanish and UTF-8 reinterpretation. “Nothing at all” was the least fun outcome.

And /. is abysmally slow these days. I don't know what it is that they're doing, but it sucks mightily.

While we're waiting for @translator, Google sez (after correcting the UTF schmutz):

Your phone is very slow and you need to clear the cache, delete junk files, free up RAM and storage space!

It looks like they've dropped the Beta design at least

I never took to that. Tried it once. Hated it. Killed the cookie. :)

Is the #BUCKFETA controversy still in full force these days?

I didn't find it that objectionable, but I can't blame you for hating it.

What put me off /. was what happened when the Beta was made default; every single thread was filled so much with FUCK BETA that there were only about three actual comments in every hundred..

    I don't miss /.

The trick was always to tune your filters; the crap rarely got a score as high as 2 for long. Yes, you'd miss out on some stuff. Mostly you'd miss out on the trolls and flamebait and stupidity. Unless it was also funny…

  • Java Dev

I've never read more than articles. And I have found that recently any interesting article that appears on /. also appears on dutch general-purpose news sites, or here, or possibly both. And ofter earlier than on /..

  • Discourse touched me in a no-no place

I bailed there ages ago, can get the same news elsewhere.

  • The high score could indicate a quality post, or it could indicate "Lunix hurrr durrr NSA secret hurr durr privacy hurrrrr".

EDIT: in fact I am going to post exactly that and get rated up. http://yro.slashdot.org/comments.pl?sid=6999377&cid=49102535

  • I get those exact popups from imgur.com

  • This can happen anywhere. Possibly because ad systems still do a shit job of sanitising the ads themselves.

Nah, Hurricane Electric are just the backbone provider in this case. If you look and take a reasonable guess, you can see it routing through Amsterdam (ams1), London (lon2), New York (nyc4) and Chicago (chi1).

Why it's routed from me over to Amsterdam and then back to London, I don't know…
