OK, Discourse - AKA, Discourse hates blakeyrat's phone
-
God knows I hate to have anything to do with development of this shitpile, and god knows you morons hate Windows Phones, but links have been broken now for weeks and its pissing me off.
It's a link, in a A tag, you click it and nothing happens. How do you even fuck that up?
-
Standard links, or people fucking around with Filed Under? I've seen a few that are like
filed under: <a>some vaguely amusing text
filed under: some vaguely amusing text
-
The links about the daahcam photo Boomzilla posted in whatever thread that was. I assume they are real links.

##Presuming using TDWTF Default, (and not Discourse Default) CSS style
If it's blue and underlined it should normally be a (proper) link.
If it's blue but not underlined, it won't be:

Mobile (chrome Samsung SIII):

Look, whatever.
The links in http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/the-bad-ideas-thread/254/4679?u=blakeyrat this post do not work if you click them in Windows Phone 8.1.
Using this site on mobile is fucking painful as shit, so sorry it took this long to get the link, I had to get to a real keyboard.
I have no idea what GayCartoonCharacterUK whatever is doing, the links don't work.
-
We see this every so often. Some links just don't work. Or require middle clicking or something. No clue about WP8.1. The answer always seems to be their link tracking.
The links you linked are two youtube videos of the dashcam video:

I have no idea what GayCartoonCharacterUK whatever is doing, the links don't work.
Same thing you're doing: trying links on WP8.1. And for me, both the links in the post you linked to worked.
-
Ok well more info: it's a Nokia 1020? I don't know what other info there is to give.
-
Mine's a Lumia 920.
The only thing I can think of is your phone's screen isn't always registering touches, or it's calibration is a little off. But then I'd expect that to be an issue on all websites, and in other apps.
Also should point out Sonia's hetero
-
It's probably dependent on your "Open all external links in a new tab" setting. I'm pretty sure that's broken links for me on WP in the past.
-
The link in this post: http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/control-p-doing-stuff-other-than-print/7860/98?u=blakeyrat to StackExchange is also non-functional.
-
Interesting: that one-boxed for me.
-
Right? Me too? Is that relevant? Are you implying that being in a onebox makes the links work? Spell out the implication please.
My issue is: the links don't work.
-
Is that relevant?
If it's in a OneBox, then there's different code doing the baking / html rendering than for stuff that isn't Oneboxed, so it probably is relevant.
-
Last time you reported this issue, it was a bare link. I buttumed that you were seeing a bare link here too, and wanted to let you know it was meant to onebox.

Link works fine for me on Windows desktop and Android. I think the issue is your device.

Ok well I can't read your mind and I'm grumpy so don't fucking do that.
-

I know it's my device, YOU FUCKWAD that's in the OP. Go back and read it. Christ.

Read that yesterday. I forgot because I read a lot of threads. If you want me to remember context like that, put it in the title.
Actually, I'll do it for you.
-
Also, for all I know, your latest issue was on a different device. For all I know, you use a desktop or a laptop on occasion. From now on I will assume all of your discourse issues stem from your POS phone.

Another link that doesn't work:
The link circled in red takes you to the URL: http://what.thedailywtf.com/clicks/track?url=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.youtube.com%2Fwatch%3Fv%3DlgEwB8t3ymM&post_id=226833&topic_id=2170 which then redirects you to, oh wait, FUCKING NOWHERE.
Also screencapped a formatting bug, where the Preview window doesn't match the "baked" or whatever post.
-
That URL also doesn't redirect on PC.
Finally, you've found a broken link that's broken for others too
-
The video itself plays. Unfortunately, it plays Sonic 2006 but oh well…
-
-
If I had meant to say "the video doesn't play" I probably would have typed "the video doesn't play."
-
Please wait 6 hours while I install a windows phone emulator. Let's see if it happens there
-
Make sure you try both with "links open in new tab" on and off, I think that setting is why it happens to me and not RaceProUK
-
I just tried clicking on links with both on and off and the emulator is working, so annoying
I do not doubt there is a bug there its just very hard to fix without being able to repro it.
-
Also, turns out I need to spend another 30 minutes getting vmware to work post this change, cause hyper-v totally fucks it up.
-
There was a topic on that recently ;)

-
I don't know if it'll make any difference, but have you tried introducing emulated network delay?
I've had similar problems with links on my Lumia 930 with the site configured to open links in a new tab. If I long press and choose to open in a new tab, it tends to work. If I just tap the link it often fails. At that point, the long press is also broken and I have to reload the page to visit the link.

Even if I know it only by reputation, I'm endlessly amused by the name.

Speaking of which, I managed to get doubleinfinispinner action on the train just now:

Twinfinity?
