Discourse is Rainbows (CSS Request)
-
Continuing the discussion from This Tropic is Capricorn - Infomercial today: Slacks with spills need oxyclean:
CSS request for @PJH:
I just noticed the the trash button's background turns orange when hovered over. And we all know that the like button has a red hover background.
I'd really love to have a rainbow of hover colors in the button bar below the posts.
@accalia would also like to ask @pjh to implement such a system.
because discourse is rainbows.
-
Too bad for non-TL4+ who never see the trash button and the like button simultaneously on a single post :p
-
yes, but i was hoping that @pjh would do it positionally so the CSS would adapt to the button position.
-
(TL4, looking at another persons' post)
(TL4, looking at own post)
-
Doesn't matter: an incomplete and disordered rainbow is surely the Discourse Way
-
TDEMSYR, the rainbow does not end with orange and red and orange would not be far appart. What you guys want is "Clown Vomit".
Filed Under: Being pedantic about layouts is really important!
-
@PJH could reorder the buttons and disorient everyone ...
-
That is clearly a seperate change request.
Filed Under: Can we randomize the button positions, please?

I stand corrected. Still, not having red and orange at the same time would be disappointing...@PJH could reorder the buttons and disorient everyone ...
No thanks, I already tend to click Flag instead of Bookmark when I attempt to bookmark posts.
-
Filed Under: Can we randomize the button positions, please?
oooh...
and have the randomization take place on post rendering, so EVERY post has a different button order. :-D
-
While we are at it... Why do those buttons have to stay below the post? just make them jump all over the page.
And depending on the position of the screen they get their colour! So in the end the whole forum will be a giant rainbow of buttons!Filed Under: The more you scroll, the less possible it will be to read anything.... let alone hit the right button to edit!
-

And then maybe rotate the buttons to jaunty angles. Maybe even have them bob up and down, as if they're dancing

hey now...... that's crossing a line.
if we're going to do that lets go all the way!
javascript:(function(){var i=0,r=function(n){return Math.floor(Math.random()*n)},f=document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].getElementsByTagName('*'),o=function(e){return typeof(e.style)=='object'&&e.tagName!='SCRIPT'},s=function(){while(!o(e=f[r(f.length)])){}return e.style};while(i++<5){s().display=r(2)?'block':'inline';s().position=r(2)?'absolute':'relative';s().margin=r(2)?'0':'1em';s().padding=r(2)?'0':'1em';s().width=r(2)?'':'auto';}})();
-
But really, the whole backgroundโฝ Goodness, but that's busy. We could turn it into a dot that appears below the button on hover. Then it's just Clown Spittle.
-
```
javascript:(function(){var i=0,r=function(n){return Math.floor(Math.random()n)},f=document.getElementsByTagName('body')[0].getElementsByTagName(''),o=function(e){return typeof(e.style)=='object'&&e.tagName!='SCRIPT'},s=function(){while(!o(e=f[r(f.length)])){}return e.style};while(i++<5){s().display=r(2)?'block':'inline';s().position=r(2)?'absolute':'relative';s().margin=r(2)?'0':'1em';s().padding=r(2)?'0':'1em';s().width=r(2)?'':'auto';}})();Hmmโฆ looks suspiciously like it borks the styles of *everything* visibleโฆ I may try it later.
-
it's my bookmarklet i call "IE6ify!"
so you be the judge. :-D
-
โฆand Firefox keeps doing a Google search. So I tried using the Dev Tools: syntax error.
Finally got it working as a bookmarklet, and it didn't seem to do much.
-
Run it a few times
just keep running it. it starts subtle.
You, dear lady, are evil.
-
-
-
hanzo'd..... i think?
-
-
-
Not necessarily in general, but I do think specifically in this case.
Only if she actually did it though. Which TL3s can't.
-
-
I'm not sure the other Lounge is ready for that kind of spellaring.
-
Evil idea: Promote @accalia.
*ahem*
My fellow WTFicans, Should i be elected by a jury of my peers to such a position as Trust Level Four, or beyond, I promise to use my powers only for
comedyevilawesome!
-
Should i be elected
I think the election system is planned but not yet implemented so you gotta hope for PJH to notice you.
From personal experience, applying via PM and then listing reasons why you should not be TL4 does not work!
Filed Under: Hope to be of help :D
Addendum: Since @accalia needs the word PM in there I had to edit the message.
-
applying via and then listing reasons why you should not be TL4 does not work!
i think you a word there.
also i'm quite happy at TL3, TYVM.
if TL4 calls me,.it calls me. until that day (which might never come) i'll just be happy at TL3.
although it does make testing @shadowmod harder than it has to be (because behavior changes for TL4 and i'm not TL4) but thankfully @riking made me an admin on his test forum so that helps!
FTFM
thankfully @riking made me an admin on his test forum so that helps!
Didn't you have your own Discourse instance for stuff like testing Sockbot? Or am I imagining things?
Filed Under: it's totally easy to set up ;P
PS. Also: Writing a reply, minimizing it and then clicking the "edit" button on a post just reopens the reply.... that smells like a bug and a missing warning!
if TL4 calls me
I figured it called me because I wanted my "Leader"-badge back... that was not the case!
-
Didn't you have your own Discourse instance for stuff like testing Sockbot?
did, but it's on a VM that's annoying to get to remotely. so i use riking's
-
Should i be elected by a jury of my peers to such a position as Trust Level Four
I don't think your peers have that power.
-
I don't think your peers have that power.
-
In other, more topical, news...I'm now occasionally distracted by the green background on the trash can as my mouse accidentally tracks over it.
-
this is now distractingYou can't read this at all because of all the distractionsThis is also distracing, there is nothing in between these messages
Wasn't the trash can supposed to be orange?... oh wait
Wasn't the trash can supposed to be orange?Filed Under: This joke relies on you not using the Discourse-standard style!
-
-
Yes?Filed Under: This is closer to orange than your no!
-
Have some more rainbows:
#main-outlet .private_message { background-color: rgba(255, 0, 255, 0.2); }
