The Cyrcle phone

##Company designs circular phone for women - because they struggle with rectangles
The makers seem to be serious about launching this specialist "feminine-forward" phone, despite its completely tone-deaf promotional material. For instance, they claim to be custom-building for women, because current phones make women look "unattractive", describing it as, "moms at a volleyball practice pecking like chickens into their mobile phones." The Cyrcle is pegged as a more discreet and lady-like way of communicating.

Sounds like an easy way to make money if they're public - bet they fail!

Hmm. I did a search for
cyrcle
and turned up nothing...

I just happened to read that other topic before looking at things in the new category...

women, whose smaller pockets often can't accommodate large phablets
Some crafty women augment their admittedly tiny or non-existent pockets with these things called "purses".
-
Hey, someone's already done that like a decade ago!

If they want a more feminine phone, they could always put it in this phone case:
-
And just so we don't leave any other feminine types out:
-
Points for experimenting with a form factor that isn't "rectangle with round corners".
I think the name Dtoor standing for "designing the opposite of rectangle" is clever. And I'm all for flip-phones. I think we need more of those.
So props to them for trying, at least. But I think it will be hard to escape the almighty rectangle. It's arguably the natural form for form layouts.
The Runcible seemed interesting too.

Another cool feature has you holding up the Runcible to take a picture with the rear camera. Instead of pinching the screen to zoom in and out, you twist the Runcible like a camera lens.
Cool. Sounds practical too.
Photos will also take on circular form, another bold move given that most camera sensors are rectangular or square.
Ah yes, much more humanizing.

Am I the only one who is weirded out by the fact that while the phone is circular, the app-icons are still rectangular?

That explains why Jeff favours circular avatars!
-
And that's an actual photo of the phone? That thing is horrendous. WTF is with that cardboard circle around the (ridiculously tiny) screen?
I can't find a single redeeming quality in that thing.
-
I can't find a single redeeming quality in that thing.
But, but, but...
It's non-rectangular!
-
Great, we bought a feminine conference phone here:
I feel that my masculinity is threatened now!
-
At least the display is rectangular

Yep. A dildo-shaped phone would be much more convenient.

Yeah, that struck me too. It looked like they took a regular phone and stuffed it in a round case, then raised price tag three times in the name of ideology.
-
-
And then they rounded it.
Not that it matters at that point
-
Interesting, the American cover had the cube be blue!
-
That's nothing. Siemens did exactly the same thing that's in the OP, and a bunch of other bizzare models to go with it:
-
Wow, that looks like it was designed by engineers who usually build nuclear power plants. Terrible.
-
My ex had Xelibri 2 and it actually was quite cool.
-
Founder Christina Cyr, who has worked on nuclear submarines, AIDS research in Los Angeles, and as a biochemist in Japan as well as working for NEC and Microsoft, went from complaining about her phone to attending maker spaces to begin work on a device that would do the things she wanted -- and not do the things she didn't want.
Uh-huh. Pity that @Fox is gay, because if she also does Cherokee-style cooking this would be a match made in heaven.

That's a good thing. I think I need to open a feminist store, where it would sell the same shit as everywhere but branded with "Feminist something", "Diversity something", and with a hefty price premium. Like they do with audiophile and "organic" stuff. It would be a tremendous success in the US, but a bit difficult to operate in Poland. In Poland I would rather sell anti-gay and anti-communist amulets.

You could go for extra fun and sell anti-gay gold lamé unitards.

No shit, man. Round behind the block of flats I lived in in Oxford, there was one of those audiophile shops, with the windows tastefully decorated with valve amps (with exposed valve, just so everyone knows it's a valve amp), glass-platter turntables, and £1500 speaker stands.(1)(1) £1500 per stand, of course. Did you think I meant per pair?

No, per speaker. I guess I'm cheap. I don't even use Monster cables!

He should take one for the team and help breed the next generation of SJWs.

I'm quite certain humanity is better off without @Fox participating in the gene pool.
Yay, cooties. It took something like 20 – 30 seconds for that to turn into a mention.

So am I, I just posted that for .

That niche is already filled.

No he shouldn't.

I'm not. And, as @aliceif recently pointed out, PIV is not necessarily necessary for procreation.

@Fox</del@ScholRLEA participating in the gene pool.FTFY. Fortunately, my brother doesn't seem to share my genetic flaws, despite our resemblance, so my nieces should be fine.

Fair dues, I guess I was a little ambiguous - I was never referring to the speakers, just the stands, but these particular ones were £1500 for one stand on which you could put one speaker, purchased separately for its own ludicrous price.
