Your Superpowerless Kids or Why Not Teaching Your Kids Programming Will Bite Them In The Assembler
-
Hello, and welcome to Poe or Faux, the game where you try to see whether or not the author of an article is serious!
Today's article is on medium. Contestants, make your guesses!

I think an obvious Poe. Author speaking nine-languages is a dead giveaway.
Second is "talking to the computer" using a language that "reads like English".
Nope, English isn't a highly ambiguous language, not at all!
-
Well, speaking nine-languages don't necessary have to exclude programming languages in the context of the article (reads your second point). And average programmers know more than 3 programming languages (while only being proficient on one or two).
Btw, for "Once you realize that a modern high-level language (python for example) pretty much reads like English, then there really are no excuses for not trying to learn them.", I remember once heard people saying similar things like that for BASIC 20+ years ago.

Compared to people, computers are pretty good at telling you what they didn’t understand about the way you explained your idea (or not judging you if you get things wrong).
Bullshit. Compilers wrote the fucking book on microaggression.
SYNTAX ERROR
. Message received: You're too stupid to even be coherent.I call Poe. My semi-serious answer is that he needs to check his mathematical privilege.
It’s a common misconception that you need a mathematically wired brain to start talking to computers.
False. It's easy to start talking to computers. You need that relatively mathematically wired brain to get much beyond that, though.

And you need imagination skill for "imagine how the computer will interpret your instructions" too.You may not seriously need to have "mathematically wired brain" to become a programmer, but the surely need to have one that can follow logic.

I guess the phrase is ambiguous, but if you have the sort of brain that can pedantically follow a chain of logic required to write and especially debug software, I am willing to declare that you have a mathematically wired brain.
-
One could argue that logic is in fact math
-
Math is applied logic, not the other way around.

I'm calling 'Moo' ( ):
In fact, there’s even software (surprising, right?) to help you figure out where your optimal place to live is. It’s called Teleport Cities. Select a few things you care about or what kind of work you do and it sorts the cities of the world according to your personal preferences. It’s like internet dating for cities, and the algorithms behind the matching are getting better by the day. Disclaimer: I’m affiliated with Teleport
He obviously want to milk his audience.

Everytime I read that comic, I can't help myself thinking "why does the guy who claims to know RegEx have to swing in to switch on the monitor?"
-
It's one of situations where you hope its poe but it's probably a moron.
-
A poeron?
-
Knowing more stuff won't hurt you. So yes, programming is going to help you in the future, at least to get a decent job even if you major on Sumerian History.

I lost 10 IQ points reading that drivel.

The image at the top of the thing starts like this:
Yep, children who this person affects are doomed.

Monkey patching?

Monkey patching?
Evolution? Please, I came from a cabbage patch like Mattel intended-- I didn't evolve from no monkey patch.

Poe or Faux? Can't I vote "Shoreditch"?
