The ironic ideas thread

Because this doesn't fit in any of the good/bad/evil ideas threads
-
I dunno, I generally consider getting shot a bad idea. Maybe it's just me.

i think this one only counts as ironic if the name Trigger was chosen with some level of knowledge aforethought.
otherwise it's merely a humourous coincidence (assuming all parties involved are all right in the end)
-
I have an ironic idea, which is, maybe, also a bad one.
Create a Facebook page called "Daily Bullshit", and post the word "bullshit" every day. Maybe with wildly different capitalization and spelling.

I think it's quite similar to the definition of ironic, which as we all know is "Rain on your wedding day and 1000 spoons when all you want is a knife"
-

FTFY.You beat me to it tho!
-
1000 spoons when all you want is a knife
Step one. hold the spoon by the bowl. step 2: sharpen, step three: cut thing. step IV: I HAVE A KNIFE NOW. HO HO HO!
-
-
Why does it need to be near a bowl?
that's the term for the scoopy, soup holdy bit of the spoon.
-_-
-
I predict that we'll see a debate concerning the nature of irony and is that subject ironic at one stage in the next 3 days.

See, the dog wasn't following the 4 gun handling rules.

Also, if she hadn't "put down" her shotgun but instead leaned it on a tree or something, the dog wouldn't have stepped on it. "Don't put a gun flat on the ground" isn't one of the four rules, but maybe it should be #5. We can call that the Blakeyrat rule.

Sounds like it requires a cronned script.
Alas, I don't understand why it's ironic though.
-
-
So. I'm not sure if my idea is ironic enough to post here. Is that ironic?
-
Steel. Is that ironic?

This is the black sheep in the Ideas family of threads.

I guess you could prevent 160 suicides by committing 160 murders, but how is that not against Australian law?
-
The people left suicide notes, so nobody investigated the deaths. The perfect crime.

I just had this conversation the other day. I remember reading about the theory that that song was completely meta. The song has the title "Ironic", but none of the scenarios described in the song are actually ironic. That is in itself ironic.
-
Might've been funnier if the dog was named "Cee".
-
Ironic idea: Making fun of people's incorrect usage of "ironic" by referencing Alanis Morrisette-- except the person's use of "ironic" was actually correct. Also, the lyric you quote to mock them is actually one of the few correct examples of irony in the song.
Filed under: Then having Celine Dion tell you that that isn't the way it is.

What kind of crazy neighborhood must someone live in to need to take a shotgun AND an attack dog with them places?

The dog was probably intended to be a retriever. She was hunting, after all, not walking around in her neighborhood.

Yeah, it'd probably have to be.

At one point, Azarihab managed to break away and fled the store, while the owner of the store hit the attacker and tried to subdue him, police said. The victim then returned to the store, pulled the knife out of his own neck, and stabbed his attacker.

Same shit, different day.

A double-blind study for a drug intended to treat hypoglycemia. The test group is given a concentrated preparation of simplex carbohydrate intended to raise blood-glucose level, while the control group is given an inert sugar pill.
-
@da-Doctah Sooooo.... high- and low-concentration doses of sugar?
-
@djls45 Where do you see low concentration in my description? Surely not the placebo; it's all sugar with no fillers.
-
@da-Doctah Ah. I figured that by "concentrated preparation" you possibly meant a super-saturated solution, and the control placebo got a non-saturated dilution. I suppose the active treatment could be a low concentration, though. (Perhaps the goal is to determine the minimum useful dose?)
Also, to be pedantic, the placebo could be formed of a non-digestible monosaccharide (i.e. all filler) so it actually would be fully inert.
