I beg to differ

Hey, at least they got the colors right... NOT!
I won't be the only one fearing to touch that screenshot because scrollbars are a for mobile.

People still work with WordPress? Are they insane?

It's a huge business actually. If you just need a blog or a simple read-oriented website, Wordpress is a pretty good choice.
-
If you're not planning on hooking it up to the Internet, sure, it's a great choice.
-
Ohhh those are quite pretty.
I have a theory about wordpress. Despite the prevalence of wordpress I'm actually convinced that there is only two or three people working on themes for wordpress and that everybody else is copying and pasting those themes and editing them a bit. Original themes for wordpress appear non existant. There is five general looks and then those appear to be skinned for each company/person.

I think Discourse looks good. Doesn't stop me from noticing it's a shitstorm technically.

Apparently, it's a plant.

Ah I see what you tried to do. I'm not going blind again.

I've gone for "theme um"

Needs more punctuation.
Theme? um...

Yes and Yes.
WordPress seems to be the Adobe Flash of blog software. An endless parade of security holes.

the meum? What's a meum? Is it like a maymay?
I suspect they were going for Theme-eum. A combination of Theme and Premium,

I haven't actually checked the numbers, but I suspect WordPress actually has security holes discovered more often than Flash, Adobe Reader, and Windows combined.

I doubt it. You can't match that style!

If by good you mean "kinda looks like a comments section for a new site created by someone who didn't really think that colors are a hugely overrated thing and gray looks really clean, slick and professional and should be used everywhere!", then yeah, sure.
There is five general looks and then those appear to be skinned for each company/person.
Totally agreed. But those can pull in some huge bucks, collectively.I haven't actually checked the numbers, but I suspect WordPress actually has security holes discovered more often than
Flash, Adobe Reader, and Windowsall the other software combined.

This bodes unwell for me, seeing as I have been asked to do some Wordpress work for someone recently.
Ah, well, they don't require it to be in WP, just that the existing site this one is a spin-off of is in WP and they suggested it would make it easier just to clone that as the base for the project -specific one. It's mostly a static site, which WP is OK for, but they did want a fanart page that the users could upload to, something that suits WP about as well as a Formula One engine suits a Clydesdale.
Oh, and the fact that every other CMS I've looked at is total shit, too. Most aren't quite as shitty as WP, but none exactly set me on fire either.
If all else fails, I can write a rump CMS from the ground up, I guess, but time is a bit short for that and honestly it's not something you want to do twice in your career, never mind three times. Besides, I'd be stuck maintaining it for as long as the company wanted to keep using it, and for not nearly enough money.
Suggestions are welcome, but remember who you're talking to and know that what seems reasonable to one person may look like crap to another.

There has to be a decent python framework. Do you need a complex user model? If not, try Django.

...every other CMS I've looked at is total shit, too.
I'm slightly surprised that there's not yet a CMS built in Phoenix.
-
I tried scrolling on that site and I think it found a way to crash my trackpad drivers because it doesn't work.
-
If you're replying to my comment, scrolling on any page in the Phoenix site with Chrome, Chromium, or Firefox works for me on a mouse with a scrollwheel.
-
I was replying to the OP.
I found the problem: http://www.themeum.com/wp-content/themes/v2/assets/js/SmoothScroll.js?ver=4.2.5
This library has a better implementation of the same functionality: http://zweig.co/jankyscroll/
