Poll: markup in comments

[poll]
- Yes
- No
- I don't comment code
[/poll]
-
[poll multiple=4]
- i saw that edit
- Shut up! Polls are hard!
- I like voting!
- E_POLL_NOT_FOUND
[/poll]
-
Had to go document myself.
-
..... discourse? why did you record me as voting No?
i didn't vote no!
-
I did, and I closed it. Point made.

I'm an artist, don't try to understand, just enjoy.

- Comments are documentation
- Documentation should be in HTML
- Therefore, comments should be in HTML
It's a 100% irrefutable logical syllogism.
-
Comments are documentation
They're superfluous as documentation. As my boss puts it, the source code itself is more than sufficient as documentation. (E. g. it is obvious to any sane programmer what a variable viDifvPL stands for in a given context.
Nevertheless, we should all switch to write source code in HTML. Or BBCode. Or Markdown. Or best a convoluted mixture of them.

So I was going to respond with a poll joke. But then i realized I don't know how to do polls in Discourse. For an iota of a second, I actually gave a shit on how to learn to do something in DissGore. So I googled for "Markdown Poll". And the first thing that comes up is a meta.derp thread about what fucking dumb hacky way should polls be implemented. Followed by response after response of "don't do it that way" UR DOING IT WORNG. And then this gem:

So at that point, I just gave up. Fuck Disocurse, fuck polls, have a bug report from a now banned member of meta.derp.

[poll] * Option 1 * Option 2 * Option 3 [/poll]
[poll]
- Option 1
- Option 2
- Option 3

Imagine a jpg of the crying Indian, except it's @PJH, because:
-
Wow I can't believe there are people here who prefer Option 2 over Option 3. I thought this was a civilized place.

This was a good one, the first 1000 times or so.
-
Comments aren't documentation.

Nope. CWEB. All else is folly.
-
He should have stopped with TeX.
-
Discofeature request: Enable markup with TEX and CWEB additionally to HTML, BBCode, and Markdown.

There's a plugin for latex-style math, but IIRC it survived for less than 24 hours until so many holes had been found in it that it had to be disabled.

re's a plugin for latex-style math, but IIRC it survived for less than 24 hours until so many holes had been found in it that it had to be disabled.
Hypothetically speaking, of course: is MathJax enabled on meta.d?

Hypothetically answering: No idea.

Huh. So that's how.
I'll also just leave these here:
https://what.thedailywtf.com/search?q=poll
https://what.thedailywtf.com/search?q=how to make poll
https://what.thedailywtf.com/search?q=poll markup
At lease this one has @PJH's post-- sixth result, below the fold on my screen-- but that's because I'm not on a desktop hooked up to Frank's 2000" TV.

Did they get DC formatted for 4k yet? I'd imagine that's getting much more attention than, say fixing mobile in any way whatsoever...

Since King Jeff upgraded to 4K monitors? Probably.

Filed under: Hey look, now we're using Discourse as an issue tracker list!

They used to have excellent QA, but they decided to bikeshed that and focus on whispers instead. Well, we all know how that turned out.
What's up with the ****strong text stuff by the way? I see that in every other post made here all of a sudden, but I don't think I get the joke?

It's a Disclosed Tag.

There are keyboard shortcuts? I thought everyone was clicking the tiny B button.

That doesn't work either, but differently.

Before the banwave, of course.
