Vote of Confidence

Not in discourse, we've got a different thread for that.
###What new/upcoming/awesome/epic technology would you place a vote of confidence in?

I wanna this topic as spam!
-_-
@aliceif already jeffed this topic from meta.... so go for it.
(i put it in meta because that's where the no confidence one was and i thought it funny. not funny enough apparently)

The wheel. And fire. They would seem to be keepers.

Sliced bread is pretty good too, I hear.

True, so true... makes the toast come out nice and even.
-
During 1943, U.S. officials imposed a short-lived ban on sliced bread as a wartime conservation measure. The ban was ordered by Claude R. Wickard who held the position of Food Administrator, and took effect on January 18, 1943.
For those that think the US is just now getting too controlling over people.
-
By short-lived, I assume it was complained about and shut down almost immediately?
-
The quote says short lived. But look at WWI (esp. War Socialism) and early New Deal nonsense (largely an attempt by old Wilson hands to bring the WWI stuff back) if you think that sort of thing is a fluke.

I'm not saying it's a fluke, I'm saying that people couldn't be having with that.

Sure. There were all sorts of crazy war time restrictions. This was apparently justified on an assumption that they'd save on wrapping material for non-sliced bread, as well as drive down demand, thus saving wheat:

TIFO?
What, they were too late to get www.todayilearned.com?oh, apparently not, that domain is for sale.

For a minute there, I thought you drank too much DiscoKoolAid.

well i actually give discourse a vote of confidence.
but that's more because i'm confident it will keep me amused coming up with new ways to break/abuse it for at least the next ten years..... so i'm confident in it's bugs more than in the software..... i guess. ;-)
-
so i'm confident in it's bugs more than in the software
I also am confident in it is bugs more than in the software.
-
i am willing to hand out spellar and pedantry badges* when warranted but try to hit a more difficult target no? i'm far too easy of a target for that
* only because you guys seem to like those badges
-
wasn't going for s, was going for
-
i'm confident in it's bugs more than in the software.
I believe I expressed similar sentiments long ago (relative to the existence of Discourse as part of TDWTF), quite possibly in the No Confidence topic, but Discosearch.

I was going to say TR is anyone who doesn't agree, but then I realized that the set of people who disagree is equivalent to the set containing only Jeff Atwood, so I may as well simplify it to TR is Jeff.

I disagree with this statement. I think probably @sam, @zogstrip, perhaps @riking and others also have confidence in the future — and perhaps even present — quality of Discourse. Even some (poor, deluded) users who are not Discodevs have expressed praise for Discourse, though they are, of course, a tiny minority.
TR is Jeff
This I agree with, wholeheartedly, but not as a derivation from your previous statement.

They also acknowledge that stuff is broken and needs fixing, so there's that
