We need more stereotype-filling quotes

Continuing the discussion from Deploying packages to Oracle:
In an effort to avoid polluting the coding help section with unuseful comments, but unable to control myself:
“it's not like I'm proud of this unplanned abomination”
Tsundere developers.
-
You know what's awesome is just casually dropping Japanese words that nobody knows except other pimple-faced anime fans.
-
I looked it up. I still don't get the joke
-
Me neither.
But there probably isn't one, so don't feel too bad.
-
Tsundere (ツンデレ?, pronounced [tsɯndeɽe]) is a Japanese character development process that describes a person who is initially cold and even hostile towards another person before gradually showing their warm side over time.
i'm going to read the quoted post to see if it gives some kind of context
-
You know what's awesome is just casually dropping Japanese words that nobody knows except other pimple-faced anime fans.
I don't really care whether or not you care. It's my thread.
-
Their catchphrase is, "It's not like I did it for you, idiot!" with variations.
-
we're talking about programmers? there's no "warm side"
-
It's just a variation on the catchphrase. That's the first thing I thought of when I saw it. I know very well that they don't mean it that way, but I tend not to let reality get in the way of comedy.
-
oh, in that case, don't let me interrupt you
-
-
You keep using that word.
I know that there are people here who will find this at least mildly amusing. If you are not one of them, good for you, I guess? It's good to know blakey has such close friends?
-
I know that there are people here who will find this at least mildly amusing.
I just can't connect the dots between the two things (your quote and @Jarry's quoted definition).
-
I know that there are people here who will find this at least mildly amusing
Nope, I think it's just you.
-
Read more posts? It's a variation of a common quote which several people here have seen numerous times. The common quote is stated above. The definition stated above is a definition, but does not carry the information that matters, which in this case is the standard catchphrase of the characters to which the label applies. (And even then, these days the quote is used to seem vaguely retro)
Nope, I think it's just you.
"DUR HUR, PEOPLE WHO ARE ENTERTAINED BY DIFFERENT THINGS THAN ME SHOULD NEVER POST THEM ON THE INTERNET"
No one is forcing you to read the thread.
-
Read more posts?
Which ones?
It's a variation of a common quote which several people here have seen numerous times.
Ooookayy...
The definition stated above is a definition, but does not carry the information that matters, which in this case is the standard catchphrase of the characters to which the label applies.
So what's the information that matters?
And even then, these days the quote is used to seem vaguely retro
This just makes less and less sense to me, I'm afraid.
-
DUR HUR (snip - mobilediscoquoting)
My, my, you're defending that joke like it's your Motherland.
We get it. There's just nothing funny in it.
-
Which ones?
Their catchphrase is, "It's not like I did it for you, idiot!" with variations.
This one.
So what's the information that matters?
See above.
This just makes less and less sense to me, I'm afraid.
My mind is failing me in reaching a particular word. It's like stereotype and retro and stuff. Something that has been used so many times that it's now a joke.ClicheMy, my, you're defending that joke like it's your Motherland.
We get it. There's just nothing funny in it.
Cool? You've stated your opinion. And stated it. And stated it. And stated it.
-
I'll just satisfy myself by being happy that you're having fun.
:backsaway.cpio:

And stated it. And stated it. And stated it.
Serves you right for making a joke and explaining it. And explaining it. And explaining it.
Look, you made a joke, and got crickets chirping. It happens to the best of us. The thing is that we, humor professionals and affictionados, just accept the fact and move on with it, instead of trying to convince people it was, in fact, hilarious.

But see, you've misunderstood nearly everything about this thread. The OP, when read by a small number of people on this forum, is entertaining. I'd invite similar quotes that conform to popular tropes. But you have forced it to be about the fact that you don't care. Why is this so important to you?

What's the point of asking me to cite people you hate? That won't be 'valid' in your world.
-
I hate everybody. It's not like I did it for you, idiot!
I just want evidence that there is one person on this world, other than you, who finds this joke funny.

Likes are all bots.

I was amused. Briefly. I didn't think it was worth a whole new thread, but it got a brief smile before I moved on with my day.
-
Why is this so important to you?
I fight for preservation of humor.
Also, if you make a joke, it doesn't mean everybody familiar with the subject matter will laugh at it. Conversely, not everybody who doesn't laugh at your joke despises the subject matter.
Sometimes a bad joke is just a bad joke.
-
But see, you've misunderstood nearly everything about this thread.
Ah, something we can all agree on!
-
I was amused. Briefly.
All I was looking for. But apparently I lose my Making Mildly Humorous Comments license.
-
You should have done something like saying generic PC hardware is hardware designed for a specific OS, the morons here lap that shit up.
-
What I'd be interested in seeing is a quote by a yandere developer.
-
But apparently I lose my Making Mildly Humorous Comments licence.
For taking 30 posts to agressively defend a throwaway joke, yes. Effective immediately.
Please clean out your desk, hand me your badge and never make any attempt at mildly humorous comments again.

quotes that conform to popular tropesAfter reading those, I don't think any of them mean what I thought they meant.

Idk, I've run across the word ‘tsundere’ before, probably on tvtropes, and I'd say it fits pretty well. Like, they're calling it an abomination there, in the bash script that's called from the database server's cron, but then on the other side, there's TODOs all scattered thru like ‘this just needs a bit of love’, as if they expect anybody to do anything more than the bare minimum to keep it alive.
-
-
So in order to have a yandere developer, you would require someone who loves their codebase beyond all else, and is deep inside it at every possible moment, and will murder anyone they believe to have slighted it in any way or looked at it in a way they disapprove of.
I think... Jeff might be on the way.

Fail. No bots or cyberparts here.
I concur, my likes are 100% organic.

I concur, my likes are 100% organic.
Does that make them at least 50% more expensive than their synthesised equivalents?

Does that make them at least 50% more expensive than their synthesised equivalents?
Only if they're sufficiently diluted.

This is like the worst thread on this site ever.
Let's never mention it again.

100% organic
So they're bullshit?
This is like the worst thread on this site ever
I'm still pretty confused, but scared to mention it in case @Magus shouts at me for not reading his mind

HEY! Come on now, someone here made this moronic haiku thread where...
...oh.
-
-
This is like the worst thread on this site ever.
Aaaah now you made it even worse .. .now it's never going to die
And by posting I make my own prediction come true
-
Well, I haven't thought of any more stereotypes, so unless we all keep posting here (50/50) it will die out soon enough.
-
Honestly, I don't see the tsundere-ness of the post quoted in the OP.
I think you're just desperately trying to find anime in a not-really-anime place.
-
And I watched the first 6 seasons of Urusei Yatsura - I know well enough what the different *dere types are.
