Quoting code collapsing

Continuing the discussion from perl: use vs require:
Did I say that PHP doesn't suck as a whole?
a way that PHP doesn't suck
Nope, I said that @Zemm pointed out a single, non-sucky thing about PHP. That says nothing about the suckiness of PHP as a whole.
Besides, this is perfectly cromulent:
if ($variable) { } else if ($variable2) { } ```</blockquote> That's valid in C# as well. I'd wager most C languages permit it. Does bad coding style make a language bad now? If so, then there isn't a single good language out there. *Edit: And new bug …*</blockquote> Sample code block below
if (condition)
{
}
else if (condition2)
{
}Sample code block above

Quoting text and code from OP:

Just what you'd expect:
I wonder what happens to ASCII art

Switching with [code] blocks and it works like desired, but is really wonky; you can't have a blank line before the [code], otherwise it doesn't even try to parse it:
What happens if there is something in the
if
andelse if
blocks?[code]
if (condition)
{
doSomething();
}
else if (condition2)
{
doSomethingElse();
}

Further issue realized upon reporting to meta.d. The below code block has a language hint:

Expected: Quoting code blocks is not civilised therefore Doing It Wrong™

And now I'm getting 503's from meta.d. Obviously it's the bots' fault.
-
I suspect they're updating. I get a Read Only Mode banner now.

Like binging on Jeff's posts for sure.

Obviously it's the bots' fault.
is anyone running bots there? I'm not.

I flagged 4 posts to a new topic: What Did The Fox Whoosh?
-
That's just *so* whooshy that it only needs two flags.Edit: And now we have three.
-
I whooshed a post to an existing topic: What Did The Fox Whoosh?
-
I tried to move that too but the stupid UI wasn't playing ball when finding the existing topic.

That's just so whooshy that it only needs two flags.

And since the cross-site one-boxing is belgiumed:
Seriously? Look at the racking raw! It's not the raw that's the problem, it's the baking!!!
Now that I've got that out of my system, my "official" response:

Sorry, garbage has priority over Metric.

Priority is priority.

Sorry, garbage has priority over Metric.
I was watching Home this weekend, and laughed when I heard Jim Parson's character say he couldn't use a part from an alien spacecraft (a different set of aliens, assumed to be bad guys), because they used metric.
There you have it right there, bad guy use metric.
