Dad had a minor stroke
-
I'm moving to New York from Dallas. My dad is just outside Waco.
Everything seemed just fine. Then he had a stroke this weekend. Just hours before his 96th birthday.
I talked to him and asked, "Dad, what do you want me to do? I can stay close."
He said, "Son, go for it! Take the opportunity. You can't just sit around and wait for me to die."
I want to go. I want to stay.
I said, "Okay, dad. I'll take it."
Then he didn't say anything.

It seems highly unlikely to me that a man would not have learned to say what he means and mean what he says after 96 years on the planet. In your position, I would be reading much more into what he says than what he doesn't.
Also: fuck strokes.

A stroke of what? A stroke of luck? A stroke of genius? A stroke of ?
You built up all this tension and didn't resolve it! I'm
sitting onslumping off the edge of my seat and lying on the floor unresponsively.
