OnePlus One phone purchase invites
-
So I have a bunch of those, for the 64gb global model, let me know if any of you is interested. FIFO giveaway.
Regards

Is this for the Android phone? I suppose it'd be nice to have a handset to test the eventual Android version of my servercooties.com app that I'm writing for WinPhone/Win8… I'll think about it, and come back later.
-
Yep, it is. A decent phone for the price. I have one myself with CyanogenMod 12S.
-
Huh? One what?
-
A one plus one cellphone. It was time to retire my nexus 4. So far it has been a decent phone. I'm asking if anybody wants an invite to buy one as I have around 6 to share. It is the global sandstone black 64gb model
-
Apparently this is actually a thing, and not just gibberish. Without the word "phone" in the OP, I had absolutely zero hopes of tracking down what the holy fuck this thread was about:
THE FLAGSHIP KILLER
And hey guyz, I know you hate "jeffing" or whatever that shit is, but please if you're posting a thread, INCLUDE ENOUGH INFORMATION SO PEOPLE KNOW WHAT THE HOLY FUCK THE THREAD IS ABOUT FOR GOD'S SAKE. K?
... why the fuck do you need an invite to buy a phone?
-
Marketing gimmick plus some old reasons that I'm pretty sure are not longer valid
-
It screams "scam" to me. Genuine products are in stores.
-

You don't if you want to only order one on a Tuesday.
They're not a huge company so they use the invite, and the Tuesdays-only method to limit orders so they don't end up with way more orders than stock.
Probably not the best way to do it, but it's at least better than ordering a phone and being told you can't have it for weeks.
-
I have bought 2 of them. Typing with it right now. I have it since September. The other one was a gift.
-
This is bizarre.
-
Interesting. My Nexus 6 is just fine thank you, but it sounds OK on paper.
-
It's also a 2014 flagship "killer" but if I was changing phone now I'd be buying a 2015 flagship phone.
-
They are supposed to release one this year ;)
-
I have 6 PhDs in economy and business management and I know of a super secret, cutting edge business model that would work for cases like this. It cost $43 billion to develop but I'll share it for free here:
Auction the phones, so people will pay as much as they are willing to. Use profits to buy a bigger factory or whatever so you can make more phones and reduce the price.

+1
The Oneplus One is pretty good (It was the first Cyanogen phone, which to those of us who like to do Android ROM stuff is a Good Thing), but yeah the whole invite thing is pretty obnoxious. It made sense when the phone first got released (limited supply and all), but now it's just annoying... It's definitely a legit company though.

I'd be up for helping with that if you need it. I've got a little (quite a bit) of experience with that stuff
-
It'll be a while yet; I still have to do the WinRT version. And there's been quite a few changes to the site since I started, so it'll be a while yet ;)
-

Well I hate to break it to you guys, but it's not "legit" enough that you can just put the phrase "one plus invites" in the subject line of your thread and expect people to know what the hell you're talking about.
This is the first I've heard of the thing.

I knew what he was talking about, and people like me are probably the target audience
However, yes, the title could use some additional info...An administrator enabled read-only mode. You can continue to browse the site but interactions may not work.

To be fair though, it's been all over tech sites for at least a year. If you followed Android news at all you'd know about it, and if not you're not the target audience.

I get WAY more Linux news than I ever wanted on this dumb site.

WTF discourse really?? How do you even do that?

I feel the same way about videogames that aren't mashups of Pacman, Pong and Space Invaders.

Games have sucked recently. Except perhaps Elite Dangerous, which I haven't tried yet.
And all the PS4 wankers are going nuts over Bloodborne, but its not a game for me.

I think you dropped a couple of words sir.

I pretty much stick to the classics. <klondike solitaire FTW
-
Homeworld remastered is good, but its just Homeworld.

That "Lawn Shooter" game looked cool, tho.
-
I enjoyed Homeworld a lot when it was released but i don't replay games. Hopefully they will make another Tie Fighter game. Because that game was awesome.

Guess I won't be getting an invite.

Must be running Dischorse…
<yeah yeah, cheap joke, I know…>

Do you have Stylish installed? If so, good; if not, install it. Then I'm sure @sloosecannon will share the relevant CSS with you (and maybe all of us) ;)
-
For the record, it's not my CSS, it's a combination of a bunch of em from here

You just add border-radius to everything. I used 25px.
-
I just put on 10%; it's what I use for avatars too.
Actually, scratch that: 5px looks better
-
Changed in in inspect element, stays with you as long as you're on the site.
-
But if you use Stylish, it'll apply every time you visit ;)
-
Just in time to not need an invite anymore.
This phone I'd never heard of until last week is now on Google News. Then again, Google News caters articles to your browsing history, maybe Google knows I visited their site.

Is that what you do when the kids won't get off?
-
Kids, aliens, same thing. But yes.

-
The words of one who has kids!
Actually no, but I work with em. Youth programs yay!
