My name is xaade, and I'm a post-Post-Edit-olic.
Hi xaade
I come from a long line of Stack Overflow question exploit abuse.
You post quickly to get the first upboat, and then edit to refine and collect more votes.
You learn this early. As soon as your post your first answer, then realize you want to add something, only to realize you already have 2 votes, because yours is the only answer.
Once, one of my colleagues was searching for a solution, saw my answer, came to my office, and told me my answer wasn't helpful to my face...
... as I was editing it.And now I'm annoying people here. They can hardly get out a reply, before I add a bunch of new stuff to my posts invalidating what they were going to say....
You forgot that this could be..... aw shit xaade.
I appreciate your support and understanding in my hard times....
Peace!

Sounds like you are addicted and are min/maxing SO. Why don't you put SO down for a while and try something different and less addicting, such as WoW?

Hi, I'm Powerlord, and I'm a post-Edit junkie.
Hi Powerlord
Like xaade, I learned a long time ago that StackOverflow and all StackExchange sites suffer from the Fastest Gun in the West Problem.
So, I learned to give short, but correct answers and improve them over time.
However, much as I'd like to blame StackOverflow, I tended to do this even before StackOverflow came into existence. I'd post something (either a new thread or a reply), then think of something to add to it afterwards. If any of the forums I used in the late 90s were still around, you'd be able to see that behavior through the "last edited by Powerlord1 on [date]" that would appear on a lot of my posts.
I... can't help it. It's been going on for the better part of two decades at this point and it's almost like part of who I am.
1I've been using the name Powerlord online since mid to late 1993.

I learned a way around this. No one anywhere knows anything about MS Fakes, so by looking over questions and trying it a bit at my previous job, I instantly became one of the top 10 most knowledgable users in that tag. I probably aswered 2 questions, for three votes (no one knows enough to know they should upvote me even)
-
I do this too. It's not an SO thing, I was like that when editing wikis long before SO was around -- a series of small edits vs one giant one.

May I introduce you to the most apropos thread...

Hello, my name is Onyx and I have the opposite problem. If I have much to say I am capable of writing a single post for upwards of 15 minutes.
Naturally, this ends up being Hanzo'd about three times while I write it so I remove parts of it, add new ones, quote new posts and expand upon them, and then someone comes along and manages to make my point in two really clever sentences and I hit cancel. After 20 minutes.
Even if I post, the edit pencil will often appear, as I notice that I accidentally a word or made a tyop, usually 10 minutes after posting, and I missed it in my first three proofreading passes.
My problem extends into code. I simply cannot
commit
until the feature works, the bug is completely fixed, and I rewrote every function name thrice because I thought it's not clear enough. This is a problem because it usually involves me updating so many files and changing so many things that if I need to undo it I will lose a lot of time, no matter how I slice it.So, my question to all of you is: what is the most awkward keyboard layout available that would stop me from typing this much due to getting utterly annoyed two sentences in?

QWERTY Body is invalid

You have all those issues posting… yet you're the third most active poster

well he's been practicing!

Hi, my name is Riking. I also suffer from this problem. However, I have other stuff to do right now so I'll finish up this post lat

Says the hedgehog with the all-time record.
-
I don't have trouble posting :P

I'm in the same camp as Onyx, I always buttumed it was related to being thorough. In my later years I realised it was a sign of chronic insecurity on my part, but this might not apply to anyone else here.
-
Have you tried reverting back to QWERTZ?
-
The idea is to get annoyed, not suicidal!

My name is IJIJ, and I'm a post-Post-Edit-olic.
Hi IJIJ
I futz with my posts after posting, but I was taught by Discourse...
I never seee my spella4rings missing words until it's posted in the big window up top and not the little window on the right.
IJIJ, is it really Diskcuss' falt?
No. I have to take responsiblity for my own actions... don't I?
The first step to solving your problem....
Filed under: Oooh! The ">" code, must abuse that for a while, now.
-
I can edit your post on there?
-
By the way, that is quite a good avatar. Even if I can't play her correctly in Hisoutensoku. If you ever feel like changing, the Koumajou Densetsu version is somewhat more sinister.

This post is deleted!
-
I'm so glad Discourse notified me of a new post in this thread, when the new post is "this post is deleted".
QUALITY.
-
I can't delete posts. The trash can button does nothing.
-
Ok? Thanks for letting me know I guess?
Did you... did you imagine I'd care about that, or...?

It took Jesus three days to reboot; I don't think I can wait that long!
