Has anyone noticed that the sign up asks for both Sex and Gender?
-
Yes.
It's a feature of the software. WE MUST USE IT
-
Your censoring isn't really too effective ...

Has anyone noticed that the sign up asks for both Sex and Gender?
Yes - these are different things to some people. Also @boomzilla's post.
Why did you poorly blank out the username?
-
Has anyone noticed that the sign up asks for both Sex and Gender?
As pointed out, it's not an error, and entirely intentional. (And optional)

They're optional, and most people just put funny stuff in them
-
Like video game or movie quotes!

(And optional)
Dischorse doesn't say it's obvious though - like it does with the Full Name.
I'm blaming Dischorse for not visually distinguishing optional and mandatory site-specific fields.

Has anyone noticed that you did not need to censor out your username or your name, since they are part of your profile.
Now your e-mail address, on the other hand, could do with some better scrubbing if you really wanted to keep it secret...
As for sex/gender: You must be new here?
-
At least it is not this:
In one instance, The New York Times did not properly redact part of a document it reported on, revealing information about U.S. operations against al-Qaeda in Iraq.
-
New to the forums, been reading the articles for years.
-
Then I won't spoil the fun when you start discovering the sex, gender, orientation, and alignment of people here.

Especially that hedgehog and that fox; right funny pair, them two...
-
Incidentally, have you ever heard of Archilochus?

and the quote: "the fox knows many things, but the hedgehog knows one big thing"
It's a concept that I run into now and then when I have to listen to some management BS:er or other (latest was Clem Sunter, who contributed less to the midden than others have). I find it interesting to view this forum from the perspective of old fables.
-
I need to actually read that fable :)
-
The story is simple enough, but the problem with it is that it can be interpreted in both ways. Really bad BS:ers manage to move freely between the two interpretations.

I'm a senior lecturer at a university. I doubt if there is anything I don't know about BS:ing.

Wait until you see the lojban-speaking QR code that looks like a cupcake that looks like a cat and the bowl of Jell-O with crackers wedged in it that both program in Go.
-
teach me master

I wonder if organic farmers BS a lot...
-
TBH I don't know, in that context, what the difference would be between BS and regular cowdung.
-
As long as there is no pair programming involved, I think I can live with that.
