Vps.me "support" forum
-
Some people may recall I had a somewhat frustrating experience trying to evaluate a free vps a couple of weeks ago. I may have left a message on their forums, to ensure my disappointment with them didn't go unnoted. What I didn't expect is that I apparently got some kind of response back today.
Hello, deare free vps user.
You are a free user, so please FUCK OFF.
Have a nice day. Dave, VPS.me teamI felt that this warranted a response of my own, I have no idea where this is going to go, but I think that, on the remote possibility that vps.me support staff are the kinds of retards who sent insulting emails to disappointed customers, then they would surely relish the free publicity I could generate for them...
The ball is in "Dave"'s court...
-
Did someone piss in Dave's Cheerios this morning or something? Sheesh.
I can only hope that he's just some random internet-er trolling and not actually one of their support people. My reality detector tells me that's not likely...
-
My suspicion is 'random troll', but I kind of want it to be a real support guy...

I would not be at all surprised if it was a real support guy.
Why the hell don't they have any private channels for this sort of thing? Or at least some sort of visual indicator so that you can ID staff members reliably.
At least they didn't close it before you could respond.
-
I looked through a few threads in that forum and it doesn't seem like they have any support staff. They just have a bunch of trolls that apparently didn't have a good time with the service.
-
My money is on "fellow dissatisfied vps.me user expressing solidarity in a somewhat elliptical fashion".
-

Yeah, if you sign up for their "free" "vps", you get one single chance to get one. If their allocation fails, that's it. Game over, you just have a worthless account with a failed VPS it in. There's no way to delete the VPS and try again. You'd have to register a whole new email address, and run through the whole registration process again. (You also can't delete your account either...)
I would imagine the forum is full of people like me who are pissed at having an hour or two of their time wasted by their worthless VPS software.
Oh yeah, they also email your account password to you as well, in plain text. Just in case maybe you thought they were only half-incompetent. They really go the extra mile to demonstrate what an awful company they are.

I should provide 0-byte VPSes for free. Disclaimer: they're hosted on MilwaukeePC, so they might be -1 byte VPSes.
-
It's 0 bytes, but it takes you 48 hours to download and confirm the size.
-
Well, if this goes nowhere at least you can buy some dollar bills from the forum members and get a properly supported VPS.
-
I think I have problems, and then I remember MilwaukeePC.

@bridget99-goroutine@gmail.com?
-
You know, the Linux kernel now has preliminary support for running on a negative number of CPUs.
-
@tar, you are not alone: http://www.vps.me/forum/vps-server-support/free-vps-77596
Have you tried their live support? I see a "Chat with us, we are online!" button... :good luck:

Are you sure that's not support for more than 2,147,483,647 processors?

Yeah... no. Other than to point and laugh, I'm basically done with these guys...

<goalposts>Why are you still using 32-bit integers for your important variables?</goalposts>
We need a way to mark a post as "I hid something in the raw"

Only 5 touch points? Scrub, I haven't even found the upper limit on this screen (Just tested and got at least 8 fingers all independently controlling item(s) on the screen). And I'm running Linux!

This is not an expensive computer...

You would be correct.

Dave, VPS.me teamSeems to be a stock reply from that

Yep...here, too:
How did you find these guys, again?

From the About page:
#CEO: Happy users is my #1 priority
Every day I spend most of my time reviewing client tickets – I pay special attention to less than 5 stars rated responses and usually add my input there. You can also ask our guys to forward the ticket to company CEO – I will then provide you with the exceptional support that you deserve.

Which one do you reckon's Dave?
-
The one with his hands on his sides looks like a murderer
-
Also none of them look beardy enough to be anywhere near Linux.

Not even the one third from left who looks like he's got half (vertically) a goatee?

No - he looks like he uses Macs.

Which one do you reckon's Dave?
Fourth from the left is the only one who looks pleased to be there.

So he's probably the one who doesn't work in IT. Maybe Marketing or something.

I figure it's him, or the guy with crossed arms two to his right. I'm pretty sure he was in the original Castle Wolfenstein.

The resemblance is truly uncanny.
