Can anybody explain to me what Discourse is doing here? (Or don't as I think I understand now that I wrote this post with this really long title that for some reason I just won't stop adding to before I even posted this. HELP!)

Hey, not really a big topic. I am just really confused.
So, as mentioned elsewhere, I am in the middle of reading through the whole SSDS topic for "fun".
I know it has been imported and I know Discourse has it's own "rules" on how to display things (like requiring a line break at quote-tags.
Then I come to this post:
http://what.thedailywtf.com/t/why-is-everybody-so-clueless-on-the-importance-of-desktop-search-to-the-masses/26775/739?u=kuro-
Look at that quote in the one-box. It seems empty... okay
-
Look at the quote in the post itself. It is empty but big.
-
Click the "Show Raw"-Button we have. See that it has a table... with content...

Become confused as to how Discourse tried to handle this.

(<-- 7.) Now that I wrote this post about it, I realized that it simply stripped the HTML and everything inside and kept the line-breaks hence creating a lot of space... that is stupid.
Filed Under: @PJH can we allow table-tags (and it's subtags) on TDWTF? Or are they too much of an attack vector?

I have no choice about what sort of tags are white/blacklisted, but I've edited that post (and the post it's quoting) to replace the table.

Oh, I thought it was an option in the admin menu... Sorry
Thank you for editing the post in question.

All the p and br horror was produced by Discourse on the fly.
Really? Most of the CS posts I've edited to fix quotes on have been absolutely full of it in the raw post as well as the cooked post.
edit: Ooops. Forgot it was closed.

Yes, CS was crazy about paragraphs and non-breaking spaces. If you used the WYSIWYG editor, you got a new paragraph for every line break. But no actual linebreaks in the raw of the post. If you used the html editor, you could totally tell who was using which editor.
