Why there's no specific categories for Wikis/Polls?
-
This probably is to provide some backward compatibility, but it would be a better way to navigate this specific content.
For example, only after three months of Discourse, do I get to know there are Wikis. So, it would be great to have a category for these: Wikis & Polls.

For wikis, it's pretty impossible, since every post can be wikified, not only the topic.
For polls... well, it's a plugin, and a pretty hacked together one, so.

pretty impossible

Still has to be done by an admin/mod, no? Any mod can move / split topic at that point. It's manual, sure, but would be a workable solution.
-
Maybe a type of auto-search meta kind of category could be nice. That way you can put your poll/wiki in the category it belongs but you could retrieve all pols/wikified posts through a central list.
-
If only we had something like TAGS.
-
So, you want a category that holds Discopædia and the FAQ rather than Meta which is where they are now? Seems rather pointless...
-
You seem to forget how that went well in the previous forum.
-
See! There are other Wikis that you don't know about
-
we also wish for tags functionality to abuse....
-
we
we as in the multiple you's or we as in 'we the people of TDWTF' ?
functionality to abuse
Throw us some functionality and we'll abuse it
-
we have been using the royal we of late as we find it amusing.
Should I stop?

Or a Leader.
-
you could retrieve all pols
Why would you want to retrieve all the citizens of Poland/those of Polish ancestry? Seems rather bigoted.

He is Italian, but to us 'Mericans all Europeans are the same. ;)

There are Knights of WTF so I don't see any reason why we shouldn't also have Royalty of WTF.
-
A wiki/poll is a type of post, not a subject matter. So it shouldn't have a category.
Unless Discourse has a system to put a single topic in multiple categories, which I'm pretty sure it doesn't.
-
single topic in multiple categories
In other words, something like a tagging system.
Maybe @codinghorror could port that over from SE/SO?

Don't worry about it. You lot are all Yankees to us anyway.

Cheeky...bastard.

First time I went to a gun shop after moving from Boston to South Carolina, when the guy asked me where I was from and I told him, he stuck out his hand and said "Welcome to the USA."
Note to "Southerners are rednecks" people: he didn't say "Welcome to the CSA."

To attack, obviously.
One could probably parse the posts for "Filed under:"... not that the tags there would have any meaning, but oh well.
