Programmer's Testing topic
-
@pjh, I wanted to reply to the sockbot naming convention thread, but I can't reply to it.
This is probably somewhere a bug report should be filed on meta.d instead, but I'd have to go over there and create an account and probably first make sure it's not working as intended first, but why can I even see a thread I can't reply to?
-
but why can I even see a thread I can't reply to?
Why not? It's kind of standard on any forum to have locked threads/categories.

Right, but that's usually not where "an effectively[1] random group of people can post and nobody else can."
[1] Now that I think more about it I think that that topic is locked to a group of people by some feature I can't remember what it's called but yes I know is probably "group".
-
but yes I know is probably "group".
Almost Hanzo'd me there. Getting the rights to post boils down basically to "asking @pjh nicely".
Which kinda explains why I still don't have them, but oh well.
-
It's deliberate
I'll add you both to the requisite group.
-
-
Me too please.
-
Done.
-
should i move the topic?
i forgot that category was so restricted.
i'm not objecting to moving the topic, i created it there because it seemed like the most relevant category, not because i didn't want discussion on it.

Maybe the security restrictions are too harsh...?
-
maybe let TL2 reply as well?
-
Matched it with the Bot Testing category. TL2 can reply to existing topics but can't create new ones.
-
:-D
/me does happy dance

Although I will admit I wasn't necessarily looking to join the group, I was just griping that I couldn't snark in that thread.
-
and now you can for two different reasons!!

Pffft. They'll let anyone in that category these days.

channeling grumpy old man tom?
Since I don't know who that is, not consciously, no. More like Grouchy Marx. (That was a typo, but it was probably accurate, so I left it in.)
-
Grumpy Old Man Tom is generic grumpy old man that just wants us to get off is grass.

I have, in fact, spent time[1] looking into a mirror and practicing waving a cane and shouting "you kids get off my lawn." Ain't actually done it yet though.
[1]not much, though.

Videos or it didn't happen.

You ever see it happening on TV? It looks just like that only with less gray hair and old-man clothes. For example, I'm wearing camo cargo pants and white socks, not high waters and black socks.

Paging @HardwareGeek?
Yes?
Get off my lawn! (Unless you're mowing it, in which case, the mower is in the shed. It should have enough gas to finish the back. You can dump the clippings on the compost pile. I suggest looking very carefully for dog poop before you start.)

No, no, I don't mean generic videos on TV. I want to see you doing it if you claim you do it
