Who wants to file the pull request?

We have over a million likes, so obviously this formatter is insufficient. Who wants to repair it, and should we go with mega, giga, tera..., mebi, gibi, tebi..., or milli, billi, trilli...?
-
M, G, T, P, etc.
-
How many Discourse instances are going to have topics with a million likes?
-
Probably not many, but the same formatter is also used for post count, user count, topic count, view counts...
-
This will cover us for the next 999 millions, @pjh can probably just add it in the custom script
Discourse.Formatter.number = function(val) { val = parseInt(val, 10); if (isNaN(val)) val = 0; if (val >= 1e6){ val = (val / 1e6).toFixed(1) + "M"; } else if (val >= 1e3){ val = (val/1e3).toFixed(1) + "K" } return val.toString(); };

I… might have submitted a PR already… and it got accepted… and I can edit posts in a locked topic…

...which is the real wtf here seeing as how they're formatting file sizes and post counts using the same formatter.
-
They've got something else for file sizes:
And one for times. But for plain old numbers,
{{number}}
is it.
-
Shouldn't that be 1023?
If you're going to consider that you should use some other oddball number, kind of how 1.44MB floppies aren't 1024K * 1024K.
-
Kibi
You cut that out!
Man, I need a filter that replaces -ibi- infixes with "I am a doofus".
-
KI am a doofusbytes.
-
That was fast!

Title not accepted. I was already designated as "goofus" and I'd appreciate if you used that term. Thank you.
Alternatively, smeghead.

There are 102410241024 doofi in a goofus.

There are 102410241024 doofi in a goofus.
So @Onyx just needs to doofus a bit more.

How many Discourse instances are going to have topics with a million likes?
Given enough time, all of them.
In the near future: 1.

No, you are a baby seal, or a masturbatory aid for a furry.
At least I have a integral number of dimensions. You fractal!
-
Want to know the best part of that post? Our resident furry liked it.
I am looking in your general direction, @RaceProUK.

I found it amusing; evidently, three others did too, including my foxy paramour :P

He's not a fractal, he's a hypercube. He has an integral number of dimensions, that integer being 4
<and now for the dickweedery> You twat

<you obviously didn't read the raw

You twat
Now you've done it, he's going to find himself an avatar of a 4.12873-dimensional shape now.

As already pointed out, tesseract is not a fractal. But on another point, how does a fractal not have an integral number of dimensions?
-
by box counting dimension or Haousdorff dimension?
-
how does a fractal not have an integral number of dimensions?
It's the definition of a fractal. Fractional dimensions are what allow fractals to have things like an infinite perimeter but a finite, or even zero, area. Fascinating subject

I did read the raw. I'm confused now...

I read your response as you getting defensive. May have misinterpreted

I wouldn't call the length of a line its 'perimeter', though.
-
and now for the dickweedery
It doesn't seem to have worked. You'll need better dickweedery than that if you want a pendantry badger.
-

But...it's a perimeter. For example:

It's another of those kind of things (like e.g. time, light, gravity...) that seem straightforward if you glance at it, but if you study them in detail it turn out to be full of complex and unintuitive surprises. Reality is annoying sometimes.
