New feature, dislikes!
-
Need:
- Mobile device
- PC
- Replicate the double like bug (spam click like on a post on mobile, at the same time spam click like on the regular post)
- Watch as your negative likes increase!
At the time of this writing, I had -30 likes on a random post.
Oh, and they didn't fix the double likes either.
[It's a new feature rather than a bug as previously identified, because it was left in after they tried to patch the original bug. Double likes can be achieved with just one pc if you spam click the like button really fucking fast.]
-
I, at best, got it to negate @mott555's like just spamming on mobile alone. But yes, I'm sure if I was also trying on a desktop, if see what you and others have.
-
I wonder how many million rows we'll put into the "likes" table in the next few days.
-
My guess is 'less than 1'
-
Here's how they fixed the double like bug for me on chrome... they just made clicking the button error out like crazy and break the whole page instead:
-
The 500 error is because it's sending a 'DELETE' command, and the server is returning a 404. After a couple times it's issueing a 500 error on the POST, which results in the syntax error for end of input.
It's quite beautiful, really.
-
the server is returning a 404
this part is especially hilarious, since the server DOESN'T RETURN A 404 FOR TOPICS THAT REALLY ARE FOUR OH FUCKING FOUR NOT FOUND.
-
Just go spam click the reply as new topic button on this post. I'll wait.
<Hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha>[quote]hahahahahahaha
-
why, it works fine for me
-
It seems like it's local only now though.

Necroing for @PJH!
Edit: Apparently 6.5 days isn't close enough. I thought it would be, with Dicsourse rounding.
-
Necroing for truth?
I'm confused about the new button and Discosearch isn't helping.

What new button?
</>
? Or the purely decorative thumbs down available in one of the CSS styles?
-
The thumbs down button.
I'm not sure why it appeared (maybe I twitch-clicked one of the style buttons) but I played with the styles afterwards and it disappeared forever.
So yeah, I feel a bit stupid - but only a bit.

...and replies.

Do you get a notification if somebody removes a "like"? One assumes your like count is decremented by one. Therefore, short of a bug, you can never make it go negative in that way.
As a temporary (or permanent) measure: Could a double click sequence on the "like" constitute an "dislike" rather than an "unlike"? Thus decrementing by 2 rather than 1
-

No. You get a notification on the first like, (and it seems months later if someone else likes a post, but unsure if that's a bug.)

It's happened before, but t'was a bug.

That was how the bug was discovered....
-
I miss the double likes more than I miss the negative likes. The negative likes were ephemeral and went away on a page reload. The double likes stuck though. That was awesome!
-

You get one notification per topic title/post number combination.
-
Except in that topic, where you sometimes get 2 or 3.
-

No. I don't. I get more than one.
-
Isn't that how it's supposed to be but Discourse gets it wrong?
-
It's supposed to give you one notification per post, but if the title changes, Discourse considers it a new topic.
-
Also: race conditions.
-
trigger warning - see microaggressions topic.
-
race conditions
trigger warning
oh dear. Has anyone ever actually done that non-sarcastically?

Yes.
Trigger warning: discussion and exploration of domestic violence and sexual assault.
-
That page does not contain the words "race condition".
-
trigger warning: race condition in event.emit() may cause events to be erroneously triggered multiple times
@ben_lubar because i can't change the reply to.....

-
not i, but i have known a few.... they are.... interesting to work with.
particularly the one who considered test failures a microagression against her, personally....

Buh? You successfully doing your job is someone doing something against you? That sounds more like lazy hiding behind the SJW terminology.
-
i'll neither affirm, nor deny that statement.
-
lazy
Surely you mean motivationally dispossessed?
-
motivationally dispossessed
Ah, I figured something like that wouldn't be OK due to it meaning things were missing rather than just different.
-
Dispossessed doesn't mean that someone lack something, but rather that something has been taken from someone. Like, drugs at airport.
-

If something has been taken then it is missing. My point being that for super political correctness you are still saying that it is gone (which is bad) rather than just different.
-
It's okay to say someone doesn't have something if you make it clear that it's not xir fault. And ze's black or female.
