I wonder how they'll perform link tracking through voice or text...
-
@Tsaukpaetra The service is what is sending the emails. Why it doesn't use HTML emails so it can mask it's grotesquely long tracking links is beyond me. I think it gives the school a one location submission of voice/email/text notifications to parents.
-
I'm on an SMS group that often receives big ugly link-tracked URLs. But the sender doesn't send them as a multimedia message, so the URL gets broken into 3 - 4 individual texts, often arriving out-of-order, and with no way to visit it without switching between a browser and the SMS thread while copy-pasting URL portions in.
-
@xaade FYI, that last link contains personal information if you click on it. You might want to remove that one.

@Lorne-Kates Bonus points for anyone who writes a program that will take an arbitrary string, and using those rules, produce an mp3 with the touchtone signals (including pauses) for the entire sequence.

Please note, use of the browser back button is not supported in this application.

I had a script for Audacity once for this exact thing.... it's not readily accessible though...

@Lorne-Kates You sound suspiciously well informed about their policies. Too well informed, even. Do you moonlight in murdering peoples' phone connections as a sideline when you're not off murdering... something else?

I like the base64-encoded JSON link hidden in that link. Also some potentially personally-identifying information?

Pish, that's like a single loop and a sub/macro.
At least make it challenging, Lorne!

@anonymous234 I loved Microsoft Sam! To hell with his replacement, Anna.

But but but, research shows female voices are better received than males!

No. Automated phone systems are an exercise in getting people to drive themselves to murder and/or suicide.

I don't mind automated phone systems that setup an access point to automated services.
Where I get frustrated is when they bury access to a representative, as much as possible, where it's clear that this is an attempt to limit contact with a real person.
If I hit 0 multiple times and it hangs up on me, I'm going to limit the amount of business I do with that company.
-
@xaade Wonderful! A base64-encoded document in the URL. That'll never get mangled! Even better, it appears to be a base64-encoding of a binary format that includes within it an email address (who for?), a URL (presumably what to redirect to), and a JSON document (some sort of real payload?). Thus we have URL-abuse, base64-abuse, a funky custom format, layering of different formats, and lack of any real resistance to people tinkering. Probably other things tooβ¦
