Fugative captured

  • Saw this on my local news station last night (channel 4 in Detroit, NBC/WDIV)

You'd think a fairly reliable news station would have...oh, I dunno, spellchecker.

    fugative

Sorry for the terrible quality. Cell phone + TV = not good.

  • Submit it to englishfailblog.com.

  •

I'd expect no such thing from Detroit. I would however, expect Detroit to be used to spelling fugitive.

  •  Your site juste failed ... must've been the DailyWTF effect ...

  •  must have just went down for a minute or something, cuz i still see the image after clearing cache(and the other sites on the box). its a dedicated box with very little traffic...

Gimme a break, TDWTF gets less traffic than your mom and she still retains her structural integrity.

  •  thats what i was thinking, not the mom part, but TDWTF certainly is no digg or fark, etc

  • This reminds me of something I saw on MSNBC, years ago. It was shortly after Sept. 11, 2001, when the "dirty bomb" hysteria was high. MSNBC had made a kewl animated graphic of bullet points which listed possible materials for dirty bombs. I remember it showed Strontium, Uranium, and ... the creatively-spelled element, Sezium.

  • Someone please tell me you saw this commercial too - I think it was during the Olympics(!):

A driver swerves off the road and hits a tree.  Instantly an call center operator responds: "This is OnStar, are you alright?  We've detected a collision; we're sending help now."  The commercial ends with an on-screen caption announcing OnStar's new feature:

    Automatic Crash Repsonse

I almost didn't notice it because I type this word all the time.  :)  But I waited until they aired the spot a second time.   Sure enough...

The news is put together quickly, but don't you think they'd have enough time to proofread a national TV ad?

Cue Star Trek joke in 5... 4... 3... ah, screw it, I'll do it myself.

"I canna hold her much longer, Captain.  She's gonna blow!"
