Photo Slideshow

  • This is the first time I've ever posted anything relating to a WTF, and I'm sure that this project will cause a whole lot more, but this is by far the most obvious one I've had so far.

The project I am working on is rebuilding a website for a state juvenile services department (correctional system for kiddies). One of the requests was for each juvenile institution there be a photo slideshow serving as a sort of "virtual tour" of the grounds (apparently state juvenile centers are something that everyone should visit at least once in their life). The department sends us a series of photos for each center and we simply put the images in the apporpriate folder and point the slideshow to the folder on the server.

The next week we have our conference call with the client and the #1 problem they have with the site up to this point is the slideshows. Nobody would be quiet about how the photos seemed to put the centers in a bad light, or were showing things that they wouldn't want the public to see (such as a cell shakedown). We tell them that we just used the photos that they supplied to us for each center, and if they had a problem with any of them, they should have never sent those unsatisfactory pictures to us.

  •  Juvinile detention centers are not the cool places for kids to be nowdays? Gitoutahere!

    Your humour is very juvinile.

    1. Were they informed of exactly how the photos would be used before they sent them? (I'd expect so, but it must be asked.)
    2. Were they instructed to only include photos they wanted to have included in the slideshow? (I'd expect so, but it must be asked.)
    3. Were they informed that the photos would not be reviewed for suitability after submission, so they should review them before they sent them? (I'd expect so, but it must be asked.)
    4. Were you responsive in removing pictures that they complained about?
    5. Did you inform them when you removed pictures that they complained about?

Grading for this quiz is as follows:

'Yes' was the correct answer for all questions. If you scored 100% correct, then they're TRWTF. If you scored less than 100%, then they are not TRWTF.

He's probably just told what to do and what to do it with. I doubt he was asked for any kind of feedback before his superiors presented him with the project.
