I'm not sure what makes this satisfying?
Anybody else think so? If yes, why?

Lots of people like watching fluid flow in unusual forms?

That and lots of people like to watch other (highly-skilled) people work.

I think that covers around 80–90% of the video between unusual fluids and skilled work.
-
@Tsaukpaetra ASMR is a weird and wonderful thing.

It's the opposite of those OCD Nightmare pics: everything is exactly in place, moving in sync, perfectly.
Trigger Warning: examples of OCD nightmare

@Tsaukpaetra It's satisfying to the video's "creator", because he stole a bunch of other people's videos then monetized it.
And now you're sharing it here so this piece of shit gets more money, you asshole.

That's not satisfying.
This is satisfying.

@Yamikuronue Oh come on, this list is highly inconsistent! Those fucking cords that get stuck in chair wheels are a freaking pain, and flipped seatbelts are genuinely uncomfortable.
Also, on a list where spelling errors are pointed out:
Irony police! Arrest the list creator!

It's also pretty objectionable to people who actually have OCD, instead of people who just casually use the word "OCD" to mean something's slightly out-of-order.

Sorry, couldn't upload it here, video bigger than 2 mb and I don't care to host it myself.

anything can be sexual if you are deviant enough.
though really, i'm not sure why people react to ASMR sexually. sure the sensation is very pleasant and relaxing, but arrousing? no sorry. don't see it. If it makes you happy though, then by all means continue.
-
@accalia said in Why is this satisfying?:

Neither I . People are weird.
-
@Tsaukpaetra actually, this brings to light a potential rationale behind things like "cable porn" and "food porn" that aren't inherently sexual.
Hmmm. . .

I tried one.
In the first two and a half seconds, it was some douche-guzzler whispering in my ear (complete with goddamn lip smacking), and crinkling a fucking candy wrapper.
I didn't make it to the third second. I get enough of that shit trying to watch a movie in a theatre.
Fuck ASMR.

Good because then you would have been stealing other people's work.

the actual sensation is pretty cool, just..... figure out your own way to trigger it because those videos are..... bad..... so very bad.

it's a macro. Not used very often though, didn't see a need to unless required.

The human brain is built around pattern recognition or finding order in disorder. That brain also dedicates a significant portion of is capacity to processing visual information, particularly movement, edge detection, and color. This video largely provides very simple repetitive visual patterns of shape, motion, and form. Here, the brain is able to easily recognize and motions patterns requiring very little mental processing, whereas in the normal course of the day, visual stimulation is chaotic, varied, and unpredictable.
TLDR: It's visual music.

The rest went over my head but YES! Those were the words I was looking for.

Thank you!

Hmm. Then why don't they show a black background with spinning dots? Or is that why MS decided that spinning dots is the perfect replacement for "indefinite progress bar"?
TBH my internal simulations from video input aren't all that more "easy" on the mental processing than typical...
