@blakeyrat haha it's The Open Web®
made with in san francisco

So what does it represent? Microsoft services, running on Firefox, running on, er, T-Rex OS?
-
@blakeyrat I have no idea what this is, or why it is supposed to be...whatever? But it reminds me of a quote from the Simpsons.
I have no clue what is going on.

It is @blakeycat riding GodZilla and of course that combination comes pre-installed with Microsoft.

@anonymous234 Where have you been last year?

@anonymous234 Where have you been last year?
Probably on the opposite side of the world where I was. I can't say I recognize that macro either.

I did it therefore it will happen to you, too.

@dse Is that Flavor Flav?

@FrostCat OMG if you google that, apparently nobody knows rhyme or scansion or meter any longer. The original way I saw that was "hail to the sun god, he is a fun god, ra ra ra". Now people are making cafe press shirts that say "all hail to the sun god, he sure is a fun god, ra ra ra". THE METER IS OFF. WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU :whaargarbl:
@mods we need a whaargarbl emoji!

@boomzilla Thank you for taking the bait.

@FrostCat I regret nothing!

THE METER IS OFF. WHAT'S WRONG WITH YOU :whaargarbl:
I'm kind of weird /post, when I read things the mental narrator is "off" by default. When I read e.g. poetry, I can choose to hear the voice in my head (so not aphantasia), but unless I'm aware that some written text is intended to be "heard", I will usually not hear it. I think I read faster as a result.
The result of this is that I'm often completely oblivious to puns. For instance, it was years before I realized that "c shell" was a pun; I only realized it when I was telling my coworker about it, and I heard myself say it aloud. I had this "ohhh c shell sea shell" moment in the middle of talking about it.

Perhaps--but this actually is a (trivial) poem.
-
@FrostCat Yes, once I realized that I turned on my mental narrator. ()
I kind of only mentioned it because I'm curious if anyone else here has the same weirdness.
-
@error It seems common to not notice meter issues or homophone puns until spoken aloud, yeah.

Yeah, I do the exact same thing. In fact...I just got the "c shell" thing as I read this...
-
@Polygeekery I'd bet it has a high correlation with recreational reading.
There's a designer in the office who mocks me for it sometimes, but I don't think he reads good.

Or reading ability in general. There's a tendency among dyslexics to read things aloud because hearing the words is easier to understand than reading them silently. It wouldn't surprise me if they even read things silently by sounding the words out in their head.
ETA: Now I'm curious, I'mma go text my mom; she got herself accredited as a tutor for dyslexic children so she could homeschool my dyslexic brother. I bet her training materials mentioned this somewhere, or one of the many articles she's read.

I'm not dyslexic, although many argue I'm on the spectrum and not in a nice way, but I read slowly aloud when I'm confused by something. This is usually followed by a string of profanities and (ノ^^)ノ┻━┻ ┬─┬ ノ( ^^ノ)

And if you choose one of the lighter colored ones, you are obviously racist.

I chose the one that matches my actual hands, because I didn't want to appropriate black culture.

Shit. Now I am racist against Mexicans.

I will usually not hear it

when I'm confused by something
This is expected; it's why we teach children to read by having them sound things out aloud, so that they have that tool later in life when something is confusing or a word is new.
For a dyslexic person, all words have a higher cognitive overhead than they do for us non-dyslexic people, so even simple sentences are just easier to comprehend when read aloud. I've got firsthand experience with that being dyscalculiac; throw numbers into a sentence and my brain stumbles a bit over them, like an uneven sidewalk.

It's not okay to make fun of an American because they're black, brown, or whatever, but it is okay to make fun of foreigners because they are from another country.
