    By my calculation, a 24-bit 192khz stereo signal comes in at a whopping 9.2Mbps.  It's too bad nobody invented FC or 100Mbps ethernet yet, otherwise it'd be (this) cheap and easy to transfer digital audio between devices.

    Double mug. You didn't even understand your own quote. The're talking about the high quality the audio signal has, not about the speed.

    Triple nonfat mug for you.  The quote from the site implies that the cable is so high-quality it can transfer higher bit-rates than other cables.  arty was just pointing out that the "amazing bit-rate" they mention is less than 10mbps.

    Well, with those speeds you could get away with 3, but I'd suspect it's 5e, as that's all you can seem to get these days.

    AV cables and the prices for 'premium' brands are a WTF in general. First you have the large amounts of snake oil that have been dripping out of the corners of the analogue world. Then you have the people who are taking that minset over to the digital domain, ignoring the nature of digital signals - namely, if it's there, it's perfect.

    Note that low-latency audio links don't always have the luxury of intricate error-correction, so it's possible cable requirements can be higher for a seemingly lower bandwidth. This doesn't quite look like that though.
