Thanks for the tip!

  • This warning in the manual for a set of telescope eyepieces I ordered was so informative.  Really, I had no idea....

    Telescope Warning

  • Maaaybe someone could be dumb enough to look at the sun, but all those are pretty much retarded warnings.   Don't throw eyepieces or you may hurt others?  Eyepieces and filters are intended for external use only?  Just where the heck do they think you'll stick that thing non-externally??

    I think you know...

I suppose that depends on exactly what you want to see, and how far it's removed from your external side...

How far are your daughters from my external side?

  •  You did make sure you don't have any screws loose before using it, right?

  • I dunno.  It looks to me like the copy editor got punchy, and that's all this is.

  • These rules exist because

    A) Someone is stupid enough to violate them and then
    B) Said someone immediately sues the telescope manufacturer

    I think you're right.

What OP cunningly didn't show us is that the next safety rule after the ones he did show us is "Don't worry, be happy..."

    http://www.telescopes.com/images/pdf/ZHUA005.pdf

(Actually, looking at the typography, it could be a different product manual from the same range)

  • Yeah, that's a different manual.   The one the post comes from is from Zhumell's Eyepiece and Filter Kit.   It doesn't include the "Don't Worry, Be Happy" comment.

And C), this someone gets away with it.

As if jurors are paid professionals or what? C'mon do you live in Podunk or do you not drive or vote? Your turn is coming.

This juror #12 and his 11 peers decided in a case of 2-pack-a-day smokers vs. some-company-that-once-made-electrical-components-with-bakelite(containing asbestos):  no damages awarded.

Next time your dying friends in Pennsylvania want to sue a company from Michigan please tell them to stop wasting my f* time and tax dollars in San Francisco.

Yeah, but the dude who created Ruby was Japanese. In their culture, it makes complete sense. It's just us Americans who don't understand why you have to wear a schoolgirl outfit to get it to work.

That's more than a simple citation. "Wollt ihr den totalen Krieg?" was the battle cry of the Reich in 1943, when it became clear that victory is unlikely, after the defeat at Stalingrad. And I think it was Goebbels, not Hitler, who originaly asked that question.
The most well-known use of the cited phrase was certainly 1943 by Joseph Goebbels in his "Sportpalast-Oration". I remember seeing the full oration in a re-run of the nazi weekly newsreels on the german programme Nord 3 way back in the 80's - they were doing it as some of exercise in polical education. In Austria it was likely the same.
However, I was unable to find an online video link quickly that was not taken down was not hosted at some neo-nazi site (I don't believe in giving those shits more page hits than is necessary to avoid them). Thus I put the "Hitler link" and the link to archive.org.

As for who used it first in public: I am not a historian but if you find any research that would shed light on the issue I would be grateful if you could post the link. Thanx.

Austria ceased to exist in 1938 and wasn't restored until 1945. Even the name vanished; the part of the Reich that was Austria was called "Ostmark" instead of "Österreich".

Fortunately for us Austrians, the victorious allies decided that Austria was the first victim of the Reich, though there wasn't any military resistance at all when the Wehrmacht overrun Austria in 1938,  since the last chancellor, Kurt Schuschnigg (a dictator himself, obviously on a smaller scale) didn't want to spoil "German blood (*)" by futile attempts to stop the Germans.

(*) Before WW2, many Austrians considered themself as "Germans".

There are no kangaroos in Austria.

Seriously, after Austria lost WW1 and was radically reduced in size, many people in Austria thought that the remaining country was too small to survive on their own (*), so they proposed to merge with Germany. That was before Hitler took over Germany.

(*) despite that fact that Swiss was even smaller and had done very well for several hundred years
