ie_hack: ie6 sucks
-
Seen peppered all through CardPool's code:
<div class="box_bottom_right"><div class="box_bottom_left"><!-- ie_hack: ie6 sucks --></div></div>
<div class="box_bottom"><!-- ie_hack: ie6 sucks --></div>
I'm guessing they wanted
:before
and:after
, but they had to support IE all the way back to IE6... because... raisins.Other notes worth mentioning:
<!-- What about the conditional below? Will this break it? - Rob -->
<td style="width: 50%;"> <!-- ie_hack: ie67 sucks --></td>
<!--[if lte IE 6]> <div class="ie6_hack_degrade_shadow_box"> <![endif]-->

On the plus side, they've made it really easy to go back through and strip all that garbage if/when they ever get the okay to drop support for IE6. A simple Ctrl-F for "ie_hack" should do the trick.

I really want to load their page in IE6 now, and if there's a single gradient out of place, send a long angry email to the CEO about how unacceptable this is.

Fuck IE6
-
Does IE6 support JS?
If so, the IE6 hack should be to compile chromium in emscripten and render the page to image, painfully slowly of course.Or create a million 1-pixel
<img>
s so that you can also respond to click events.

@RaceProUK
Be sure to use something with an Edge for that

Fuck IE6
no, that would be too cruel to the person doing the fucking. instead fire IE6.
out of a cannon.
into the sun.
after setting it on fire.
-
@accalia WHat are you setting fire to, IE6, the cannon, or the Sun?
-
@RaceProUK Yes.
-
@Adynathos ....I like the cut of your jib.
-
@Adynathos Seriously though, if I had the requirement to "support IE6" today I'd just make the whole website a static image with an image map on top, and see if they accept that.
After all, the "proper" way is probably going to end up looking worse.

Don't forget to make that image a semi-transparent PNG
