Thankyou vista

  •  Let me just get this out of the way so the thread can carry on: "The Real WTF is Vista". There.

  • If I could count on both my hands the number of time that Fedora's automatic error reporter crashed on me while trying to report an error, I'd be some kind of freakish mutant with a couple of dozen fingers on each hand.

And you were counting in binary, right?

If you count in trinary, that's...[google]...counting to 243 on one hand.

    242.  And how are you counting trinary with your fingers?  I suppose you could use multiple finger positions, but why not have 16 distinct finger positions and use hex, n00b?

  •  Ok, so a program crashed, and Vista notified you.

    I agree! WTF!!!

  • I see the irony here (that the program designed to tell you how to address other crashes has itself crashed), but that's never happened to my Vista install.  In fact, other than the odd dump because of a graphics driver, nothing much ever goes wrong with my Vista box at all.  I wonder if it's because mine is a native install rather than an upgrade install.  /me puzzled

Sometimes I have to wonder what people are doing with their systems to cause so many crashes.  [/editorial]

  • I've seen the same on XP and Ubuntu. I don't know what it is about these error reporting programs...
