Internet Explorer function key template

I have a function key template (anyone remember those?) for internet explorer. It seems to be pretty old, since none of the function keys in newer IE releases actually does what is labeled on the template. Actually, I'm not sure if that's true, because there aren't really any words (like on the old wordperfect templates), just icons. F1 is a book with a question mark on it. Obviously that's the question mark book button, er, I mean the help button. F12 actually has words; it says "hot keys". I think that increases the temperature of the keyboard. F9 is a folder with a five-point star, obviously a poorly drawn pentagram. F10 is a sun dial; who knows what that does. F11 is a satellite dish for those users with satellite internet connections. F2 is the internet explorer icon, which is obviously useful if you want to start internet explorer from inside internet explorer. F3 and F4 are less interesting, just arrow buttons, which I guess are back and forward. F5 sorta looks like the refresh icon, which doesn't really make me think of refresh, but I still recognize it. F6 is probably the best icon of the bunch; it clearly looks like a letter and an envelope, so I'll give the designer credit for making F6 the email key. F7 is a house, and that probably takes the user home.
But the best one of all is F8, which is labeled "IQ 99". WTF?!?

I really like your message, but if you do care at all, the sun dial is the history icon in IE. Or, it used to be. The five pointed star is favorites, I believe. F11 now in IE is full screen mode. I'm not sure what the satellite dish could be... maybe active desktop?

I seem to recall the dish being related to "Channels", which was either an Active Desktop thing or something involving that screensaver, or something.

A quick google^Wsearch indicates that IQ99 is actually an autonomous robot of some kind:

I think it's just pointing out that the maximum IQ of anyone that'd ever use such a thing is 99. To be honest, that's probably optimistic, even.
Anyway, what's the explanation for the whole "sundial means browsing history" thing? I never did understand that. It can't really be as lame as "in historical times they used sundials so sundial=history"... can it?

Aren't these function keys labels, that 50% of keyboards around me has? If yes -> it's just label - these are normal keyboard shortcuts from IE. Nothing to get excited about really. If it's old it doesn't matter. Shortcuts were the same in (almost?) every version of IE.

Dang these function keys. How is anyone supposed to remember what they do when they have cryptic labels like "F4"? We should give them a template with cryptic pictures instead.
I'm just looking at my bookshelf thinking, what's up with each book having its title on the binder? Wouldn't it be a lot easier if each book was distinguished by a little picture instead?

Oh, it's quite elementary, my dear RayS. A sundial shows time by casting a shadow, that is it indicates the position of the sun by marking it through it's absence, which is very clever indeed. However, given that light has an absolute speed, it is immediately obvious that it really shows the sun's historical position, where it has been, and never where it is now.

Good point, bad example. A bookshelf offers a lot more equivalent-of-screen-real-estate than a toolbar does. Toolbars can fit in some text, but only if it's fairly short (especially to keep it readable) and/or compressed into a tooltip.

F2 - ?
F3 - Find pop up
F4 - List of Addresses you've typed
F5 - Refresh
F6 - Address Bar
F7 - ?
F8 - ?
F9 - ?
F10 - Menu bar active (like alt)
F11 - Full Screen Mode Toggle
F12 - ?
