Twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom!

I know there are already two threads about kickstarters, but this one is too funny not to post:

I'm like 65% sure that it's just an elaborate April fools joke.

@anonymous234 I wonder what the dog's contributions to development were.

Watched the video and I'm still none the wiser.

I got the impression it would make more sense if the screen were spinning while you watched it.
-
Pfft. Wouldn't even work on my Nokia 1020, its camera lens already protrudes more than their little spinner nub thing.

Alternate theory: They had some knobs laying around and figured they should sell them for profit.

You can spin your mobile! Nobody else in their bleak life can. You have to admit that $12 is a small price to pay for this. Also you get a knob for your phone! Who wouldn't want a knob on their phone?!
-
@Boner I can actually think of one application for that: using the gyroscope in the phone, and assuming the screen lag is low enough, you could display images in the spinning phone screen, the same way they do on bicycle wheels
http://i.imgur.com/754T7sj.gifvOf course, you can already display images in a static phone screen, so I'm not sure if that's much of an advantage. But it'd be cool to see.
-
@anonymous234 I think the gyroscope lag would be terrible. I also wonder what effect the centrifgual force would have on it.
And I don't need a knob on my phone. There's one attached to it for most of the day already.

Actually, you might be on to something, but maybe without the gyroscope intervention.
Think of it: Someone uploads a Gif that looks like garbage, but if you spin your phone at the right speed, you can actually see the picture! It's a weird take on Magic Eye, for sure. ;)

Today I was mindlessly spinning my phone on the table and I actually thought "I wish I had some kind of small plastic nub to make it easier".
Oh, Fibrot, why did we mock you?!
