Need a "cool" tech-related presentation topic
-
It's for an English class - basically anything goes, as long as it fits into 10 minutes, doesn't require me to do too much research and doesn't get people asleep. As in the title, preferably something "cool" for laymen, things like AI or androids, except maybe less cliched.
Any ideas?

@Maciejasjmj Talk about how almost all farm equipment now are autonomous robots run on GPS. Amazing how many people still think there's a dude out sitting in that thresher.
Also one of those rare 1950s predictions of the future that actually kind of came true.

Talk about how farmers are computer scientists now and farms are indoors:

I was going to say automated testing, because you can give a webdriver demo and that usually interests people, but @blakeyrat's suggestion is much better. You could talk about beacons, also; I went to a talk about beacons that had me riveted, and he mentioned how they're used for farming a lot. Apparently they'll rig up weather stations and crop monitoring sensors to beacons which will dump info into a drone that flies overhead with a received, sometimes literally an old iphone duct-taped to the bottom of it.

Do you do any tech stuff in your spare time? Talk about that.
When I was taking classes and also the webmaster (== main IT guy) for our local gaming convention, I did a paper/presentation combo about the convention's registration system and their effort to move to an online version. My knowledge of the convention and systems involved let me tell a story I knew well and do most of the presentation talking on the fly, while my collection of pictures and access to relevant screenshots meant I had good material for the slides and paper.
Unfortunately, none of this side work helped implement a registration system (institutional inertia for the ) but at least I got a good grade out of it. :)

AlphaGo.
I'm on a big machine learning kick recently so YMMV, but that stuff is amazing.
Also Pocket Fritz, which can play at a grandmaster level while consuming less power than a human grandmaster, which is a real achievement.

@Maciejasjmj Hololens.

First time I hear about it.
Interesting, but probably only true in the most developed areas.

This article mentions robot warehouses, which also indeed now exist. Also wall-to-wall TVs, bloodless surgery.

@blakeyrat Have you seen the TED talk I linked to above? It may interest you as it is on the same topic (revolutionizing farming).

@LB_ I'm at work.
Also I'm generally not a fan of TED talks.
