Build 2016
-
Ink got cooler.
Major Update to Windows on the way.
Bash is coming to Windows. Like really.
VS2015 Update 2 is apparently out today, except not on the website yet for some reason.
-
... Build is now? God fucking dammit WtfCorp was supposed to send me.

/me still believes microsoft is going to have announced the absorption of linux eco systems (ubuntu/debian flavor, probably) into some hybrid bastard baby within the next 5 years.
Overall, it will actually be good to merge the two eco systems, since it would bring a wide array of developers to be able to develop on pretty cheap hardware/software licensing. (C# /.NET CLR having 0 changes to run on linux would be highly beneficial to both environments)

@LB_ Basically that yes. Sounds pretty cool.
-
The girl who gave skype talk has screeching voice.
-
I'm exactly 1 hour behind because I found out about the livestream late. Just finished the Cortana talk - cool stuff but I don't know that it's for me.

This thing with programming bots is really cool, seems to have come out of nowhere though. Either way, it involves pizza and that makes me happy.

I disagree. This is what everything has been moving toward: they've been building out Bing and Cortana for a long time now, and machine learning is really hot lately, now that you can cloud host so much of the work. This is now them beginning to use the data they've been collecting, and in a really cool way.
-
That segment with the blind man and computer vision was really awesome.
-
@LB_ Unquestionably the coolest thing so far. Second being the girl decorating a kitchen with her parents over holoskype.

A few years ago they did a demo with Skype doing real-time voice translation from (IIRC) Chinese (Mandarin?) to English, using the actual speaker's voice that brought tears to my eyes.
Microsoft Research does some fucking amazing stuff. Possibly the most under-appreciated organization since Xerox's PARC.

I've been playing with Centennial (it's nice being an MS partner). Pretty Fing cool.
But getting up at 5a to walk the dog before catching the train since I still had to pick up my registration packet was too freaking early.

It's on MSDN.

...the next version of Visual Studio, which we call Visual Studio “15” (not to be confused with Visual Studio 2015)...
They don't like to make things easy for themselves, do they?
-
-
@coldandtired Well Visual Studio 2015 is called Visual Studio 14. For CMake you have to specify it as "Visual Studio 14 2015" - just happened to release in an unfortunate year, I suppose.

Not really. VS2015 has VC 14. At least that's how I've always looked at it...

VS2015 uses 14 as its internal version number, as shown in the About menu and the install location (C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft Visual Studio 14.0). This isn't really used as its display name, though.

Basically... Marketing sucks.
-
@Choonster VS 15 on the other hand, has no marketing name yet, and is awesome.

As correctly predicted by @Nagesh XAMARIN is free.

I am tearing between T20 match and Build2016.
