Gliffy! Their DBA is iffy.

On working to resolve the issue, an administrator accidentally deleted the production database.

  • @Arantor

Despite initially “hoping to have this resolved in the next several hours”, the last word from Gliffy is that the restorative “data transfer is taking longer than expected” and may not be completed until 11am tomorrow, Pacific Standard Time.

This is like the third time I've seen this error. Pacific Standard Time doesn't exist right now. Only Pacific Daylight Time. WTF people. Amazon made this error earlier, you run a huge company, you don't know how TIME works? Now The Register, you run a huge news site, you don't know how TIME works?

The worst part is: both could have simply said "Pacific Time Zone" which is not only LESS TYPING, but is also CORRECT.

    Grump.

But seriously, learn how time works so you don't look stupid to thousands of people.

The worst part is that they probably won't, because most people are too stupid to realize the difference......

The same cannot be said about Mountain Standard Time, because Arizona. 🐠

  • @Arantor appears they posted at 4am which is about 4 hours after the problem started, not 9 "posted this on Mar 21, 4:11 AM"

  • @blakeyrat they probably are more concerned about getting their database up, understandably...

I can never remember which way its supposed to be, so I just say "Pacific" or "Eastern" or whatever.

  • @Weng Just say "Pacific Time", it's correct 100% of the time, and what you actually meant 99.999% of the time.
