Radical Requests Thread

Change forum software every 2 to 3 months. If we run out of choices. We can use something not designed as forum software and force it to be forum software.
-
@ben_lubar should eat lunch at least once this week before 2:30 PM.
-
@ben_lubar maybe that would be doable if you didn't wait for people on IRC to help you decide what to put on your bagle every morning...

Let's start with WordPress.

We've already forced a bug tracker software to be forum software, so we're off to a pretty good start.
However I don't think @ben_lubar would appreciate the constant migrations, and I doubt you'd get anyone else to volunteer to perform them.

@anotherusername Ooh! Ooh! Let's use JIRA as our next forums software! :D
-
@ben_lubar You eat lunch? Pfft....Real coders space it completely, then almost fall over in the parking lot walking to their cars after work from starvation/lightheadedness.

Admit it, you just want to be able to send people pull requests.

No way. If that's happened to you, it's probably low blood sugar, and you should check your Mt. Dew I.V. immediately.
-
@anotherusername After I fall over in the parking lot and people race to my side, I tell them, "I'm alright, I just didn't play Hearthstone while I was on a conference call with end users in the field giving me application feedback...Just...find my iPad so I can win a game with my Murloc Shammy. It'll bring me round".

I skip breakfast (because mornings), and go directly for lunch. Anyway, real food > whatever I can scavenge from my kitchen so early in the day.

Radical? I say radical! That's my thing that I say! I feel like I'm going to explode here!
-
For about the same effort it would take to migrate continuously, we could keep a few forum programs working in parallel by translating their database queries to a neutral format. I feel that that would be better.

@anonymous234 Can we cut out the complicated stuff and just use a shared Google Docs spreadsheet?

Why migrations? We could just start clean every time!

@Onyx This!

Already prediction made by Nagesh in another thread.
Required reading - Mohammed Bin Tughlaq and the great migration.
