Accessing a method in another class!

  • A difficult thing to do in Java, apparently.

So difficult, in fact, that someone has written a tutorial about it.

What next? A tutorial in incrementing a variable?

  • Everyone has to start somewhere....

There is a reason why the writers of the 'For Dummies' books are rich.

  • Funniest part: the tutorial contains invalid code. I hope this is intentionally bad.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that all tutorials are bad (although I'm sorry if I came across that way) - it was just that this would seem more suited to a general introduction / tutorial on Java rather than a specific one on a very small topic.

They get rich writing that stuff...?

The Welcome text on the home page begins "Hello and welcome to Help Developer. As a web designer..." . Need I say more ?

    (dives for cover)

[Before anyone flames me, I know there are some excellent web designers out there. But there are also a lot of - shall we say - not-so-good ones who need all the help they can get.]

That, or the fact that there are actually 25 people subscribed via feedburner to this crap.  There are simliarly disturbing tutorials on PHP cookies, GIMP, and wordpress.  Check his '10 things a web designer can't do without' - my favorite part is at the bottom: 'last time I did a post like this I had people saying I was wrong and an opinion cannot be wrong'

Sweet!  I'm of the opinion that my bank account balance now has about 8 extra zeros in front of the decimal, Farscape was never cancelled, and I have the power to fly.  Excuse me while I go up to the 6th floor balcony and fly over to this awesome Thai joint on the east side for lunch - after all, opinion cannot be wroooonnnnngggggggggg.  *SPLAT*

I remember reading a feature article on an online mag where the chick had just gotten herself out of debt, saying, "I once bought 'Credit Repair for Dummies' and read it on the train, but stopped soon after, because I felt like I was advertising two handicaps."

    *grin* good one!

I wonder what would happen if Spectate started a book series... "Screen Reshooting for Stups", "Dino Mummy Hunting for The Mases", "Become a Stone Dancer in 24 Hours",  "V5 for the ClueLess", "Training Birds to Find Aliens in 7 Days", "Understanding Why Enter Enter Enter is Way Faster Than Down Arrow", "Be in Control of Your Computer with SSDS Hahahahaha", and the musical classic "The Wind on a DVD"
