Never ask an admin to do work

Continuing the discussion from Discourse is such a rebel that the last cooties topic didnt work:
@boomzilla you could synch this close timer near the migration scheduled time? So we have a cool discourse death countdown?
504 error, discourse doesnt approve on this
that's what moderators are for!
-
I was not aware that moderators were supposed to intentionally cause server cooties at the request of a random user.

I was not aware that moderators were supposed to intentionally cause server cooties at the request of a random user.
that's not the function of moderators?
.... huh....
then what are they for?
-
Boomzilla is an admin?
Anyway, found a discobug there, its closed but the timer was still visible.
-
Request was for the timer, server cooties could be avoidable setting it for a safe time after migration. But the link you gave me is cool enough, I bookmarked it.

Boomzilla is an admin?
has been for a while.
i think he was promoted by @PJH when he started to refuse to do work as a moderator....
or at least that's the word on the street
-
He never told me, and I never felt the need to ask.
-

-
or at least that's the word on the street
Huh. The word on my street is STOP.
There's a street nearby where the word is BUS.
-
Liar, you're portuguese, so its PARE like mine
-
Google says im wrong, wtf do you have english signposts?
-
No, we use the actual English words around here.
-
So our signs are more portuguese than the portuguese :p
-
I dunno, because of foreigners? No one asked me.
-
We also use completely different "no parking" signs. I believe it's a European thing.

The circular bit is the standard Europe-wide sign; no idea why the Portuguese felt the need to add some white and black around it though
-
That was just the first thing I pulled off the internet. We use just the center circular bit too.
Not sure if we have no-parking signs with the rectangular white border or not, but I do remember seeing the border on no traffic signs as well as parking signs, so I'm guessing they exist.

This is nice: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_European_road_signs#Table_of_traffic_signs_comparison

Google says im wrong, wtf do you have english signposts?
Might be because we've ratified the
Edit: ok, no idea:

The Convention allows for the word "STOP" to be in either English or the national language of the particular country.

Maybe you can activate it post-migration!
I registered too and suspect I fell into the same hole as I never got the activation email.
-
I registered, saved my password with LastPass, made one post and forgot my LastPass password. It's the only account I'd got round to including.
My CS account was imported into Discourse, and it's in the test forum and let me activate. So I have the super anonymous sock puppet of Jaloopa1

Nope. I was only a mod on CS.
I could only use my wits to troll back then.
Lucky. I couldn't join because the forum decided i was a spammer, but created the account anyway, so i had an account and couldn't register, but the account was inactive so i couldn't login, nor could anyone else see my account
Jeff would be proud of CS for that.

Oh FFS. Admin > "Select Posts" > "Select All" > "Move" even moved the closed notice.
Discourse. The software that never stops surprising...

What's better is the fact the thread isn't closed

ADMIN ABUSE!
Was that a request?
Or an observation?
None of the above. It was an answer.

Filed Under: And I am not even an admin
-
@boomzilla, @pjh is already securing some votes for the next admin election with some tasty biscuits, what about you?
-
I'm more of a stick sort of admin than a carrot sort of admin.
-
Now we're talking
-
-
-
Maybe you can activate it post-migration!
yes, yes i can.
or at least i could on ben's test forum because i forgot which email address @accalia actually used, and @Accalia_de_Elementia used my primary email address so that was the one that got password reset.
-
Weeelll.... the shorter one is easier to @ mention though.
-
it's the one i'll be keeping.
