Sorry, I live in Massachusetts and we aren't allowed to possess foreign currencies here.  I have half a book of ration coupons if you are in need of a nice cube of animal lard, though!

Well, as a resident of Virginia, I cannot accept any products made from animals, unless said animals were killed with an assault rifle or high explosives.  So if you can't make that happen, I guess you could just donate the money toward buying one of these idiots a clue.

I would love to see code that's written in another language, that uses DAL (with a separate one for each type of DB, of course)

Funny as I recall M2DB supports most of the SQL Servers out there, so I wouldn't need to have one for each DB.

Honestly though I don't think JB and russ0519 are the same person, I believe they know each other, but I don't believe they are the same person.

Also from the samples russ posted of CF I must claim that is the fugliest language I've ever seen. PHP was bad for letting you escape to HTML, but CF just looks horrible, seriously two languages over-lapping like that can't be good for indentation, something has to give.

I'm sure that has something to do with my distaste for it.  In my book, the best thing to happen to Ruby on Rails was Haml. It's so much easier to deal with.

The only thing CF has going for it is that you can pretty much write your entire app in Java and then just use CF as if it were just a templating language.

Or you could just use JSP in the first place.

     Alslo wtf is M2DB?
My bad. MDB2, it is a DAL that supports multiple SQL servers without need for massive amounts of change in the code, all one needs to change is possible portability issues and the initial connection which also defines what RDBMS to use.

Well we know you would. But no, I would pick the correctly written one that relied on an actual proper DAL. And if there is a god, it would definitely be less LOC.

Come back* when you learn actual proper DAL architecture and can handle an actual argument.

Why don't you stop being so retarded?

Oh noes! He used his 1337 haxxor skillz on me!

Wait, wait, wait.  Hold up a second.  I am fucking confused now.  Why on earth is <font face="courier new, courier">MasterPIanSoftware </font>talking to himself?  And who the fuck is this <font face="courier new,courier">MasterPlanSoftware</font> guy.  Never seen him around here before.

  •  I'm confused. What was this thread about again?

  • @russ0519 said:

It was an example meant to illustrate the power and elegance of CF.  If you would like to post a better example that applies to a larger number of languages (as long as it's in the scope of developing websites), why don't you go for it and post your own.  I would really love to see why you think that .NET is a better language.

Oh, great. You've decided to quit showing your ignorance of SQL Server and decided to show your ignorance of programming in general.

CF has no "power" or "elegance". It's a toy used by asswipes who aren't intelligent to do things any better. You know, people like you who think VB is too complicated.

Back to the kiddie pool, troll. Quit wasting our time - the grownups are trying to have an adult conversation here.

  • @russ0519 said:

Apart from CF being a more elegant language, it also comes with a ton of features which are not included in PHP, although I'm sure some of them can be added on by third parties.

Got it figured out now. You're a "programmer". Right. The same kind of "programmer" who thinks that HTML and XML are "programming languages".

Come on now. Spill the beans. Where did you accidentally read "buffer overflows" and "exploited"? Did someone actually try to explain to you what they are, or are you just using them with your usual lack of comprehension?

You *do* have it rough, though, I'll admit. Being related to Lysis and less technically competent than Spectate like you are would cause me to shoot myself. I guess now I can understand why you're the way you are - I almost (but not quite) feel sympathy for you.

  • @bstorer said:

I cannot think of a problem domain wherein I would select ColdFusion as my language of choice.

I can think of a couple.

If you have the actual box version of CF, you could use the carton and pages from the manual to start a fire if you were ever trapped in the mountains in the winter. It might help keep you from freezing to death.

Or perhaps the box version with manuals would be heavy enough to swat people whose names start with "russ0" in the head with - you know, do damage without leaving marks?

But aside from that, I'd have to agree with you.

  • @russ0519 said:

If you are an untalented hack writing crappy, bloated websites, you use CF.

    There. FTFY.

  • @russ0519 said:

I though I proved it with that code challenge.

The only thing you've proven in every single post you've made here is what an incompetent, moronic loser you are. Nothing more, nothing less.

But thanks for the chuckles. Best clown performance I've seen in ages!

  • You know its funny this guy is calling russ incompetent and moronic.....he probably genuinely believes it too.

Most of the people that shit on coldfusion are basing their opinion on something they heard from one person once over a water cooler.

Some like to talk about the lacking features of 5-10 year old versions that have long since been implemented into coldfusion's core.

A few (which I haven't seen here) admit that Coldfusion is great in general for RAD (Rapid Application Development), but they prefer the custom Ruby/Python/C# web app engine they built.

I really don't give a flying fuck about what the first two types of people have to say.

I just find it really funny that you are making ignorant deductions based on non-existent facts. IMHO russ is one of the smartest people I know......and I'm in the 99% percentile....tested and verified.

Pretty much everyone who I've seen in this thread (with the exception of Lingerance) is not even close to being on russ's or JimBastard's level.

Edit: doodoo pee pee cocky shire. too much cerealness in this post

Yeah, but if we really wanted to ignore him, we'd just abandon this thread.  Watching this guy is like passing the scene of a grisly Space Shuttle wreck, it's just to fascinating.  We have to feed him just enough that he keeps amusing us with his desperate trolling tactics, but not enough so that he will actually survive a harsh Canadian winter.

Is that something you do... uhh, ever?  I do enjoy feeding him because he's so ineffectual as to be merely amusing rather than annoying.  But really, I just don't want the cartwheeling demographic on this forum to read his posts and think they're from me.

That's a bold statement from... AN IMPOSTER!

Says the hooligan who hijacked beloved forum regular pstorer's identity.

Where would thedailywtf forums be without the clever insights and witty banter of frequent posters pstorer, KenVV and <font face="courier new,courier">MasterPIanSoftware</font>?  Where, I ask?

Next, I suppose the identity of helpful forum mainstay SpectatSwamp will be stolen and replaced with some sort of highly implausible mentally imbalanced super-troll proponent of flat text files, magic medicine stones and 6th generation video-reshoots.
