$0.29 pizza? (U.S. only)

  • So, apparently Hungry Howie's pizza has this for people in the U.S.

So, basically as long as you don't live in Alabama or Florida, you can get a Large 1-topping pizza for $0.29 today if you buy a second Large pizza at full price. Of course, they still charge for delivery and you can only get a single pizza for this price.

  • FoxDev

they also show you a... it appears to be 6 topping... pizza for an offer that's for a 1-topping pizza.

  • Nah, that's the one that you buy at full menu price! :P

  • That's the marketing department for you.

    You made that up.

Or when you say "the US" do you mean "some extremely tiny area of the US, but 99% of US residents won't recognize the name of the pizza place and respond with 'you made that up.'"?

... oh apparently it is a thing that exists, but natch there aren't any within three STATES of me. Way to give me false hopes of cheap pizza, you dickwad.

  • BTW, you still have to buy a pizza at full price... it's the second one that's $0.29.

But yeah, I have no idea how much of the country they cover.

I live in a state whose two big things are automobiles and pizza chains.

Hungry Howie's stretches at least from South Carolina to Florida to Texas, because I've gotten food from them in all those states. I didn't know they did pizza though--I always ordered the calzone-type sub.

Those were decent, but if you can't find better pizza elsewhere, there's something wrong.

Maybe that's the case, and that's why you are depressed.

There's a pizza chain (Donato's, I think it was called) that I had a couple times when I was in Indianapolis for GenCon that I wish would come out here to PA, because they had a fantastic spicy pepperoni pizza.

I'm surprised, for as many pizza places that open up around my area, most of them are either shit or don't deliver. And most of the places that don't deliver, save two that I've found, are also shit.

  • Fuck you, I have Alfy's. It's just not that cheap.

Are they good? There's one within walking distance of my house, but I've never eaten there.

  • WHY NOT!!!!!!!!!

yes they are the best pizza.

  • I do Odd Moe's or Straight from New York. But they're more like $29 than $0.29.

Funny story: Long before Captain Morgan did the commercial where some drunk guys get a ride home by walking in a pizza joint and ordering a pizza for delivery, we did the same thing at a Hungry Howie's. They had a location next to the pub we were at, we walked in and ordered food for delivery, offered the delivery driver a big tip for driving us home and he agreed.

That combined with your likely profession reminds me of the opening of Snow Crash. I hope you never have to work for Uncle Enzo:

Why is the Deliverator so equipped? Because people rely on him. He is a role model. This is America. People do whatever the fuck they feel like doing, you got a problem with that? Because they have a right to. And because they have guns and no one can fucking stop them. As a result, this country has one of the worst economies in the world. When it gets down to it -- talking trade balances here -- once we've brain-drained all our technology into other countries, once things have evened out, they're making cars in Bolivia and microwave ovens in Tadzhikistan and selling them here -- once our edge in natural resources has been made irrelevant by giant Hong Kong ships and dirigibles that can ship North Dakota all the way to New Zealand for a nickel -- once the Invisible Hand has taken all those historical inequities and smeared them out into a broad global layer of what a Pakistani brickmaker would consider to be prosperity -- y'know what? There's only four things we do better than anyone else

    music
    movies
    microcode (software)
    high-speed pizza delivery

The Deliverator used to make software. Still does, sometimes. But if life were a mellow elementary school run by well-meaning education Ph.D.s, the Deliverator's report card would say: "Hiro is so bright and creative but needs to work harder on his cooperation skills."

  • Ugh, you just reminded me how much I hated that book.

  • In Vindictus, there's a guy on an island in the third town who lives in a place called the Magic Shack. He sells potions and gives you quests. His name is also Enzo, and makes me think of this book every single time I have to talk to him.

Speaking of Snow Crash, I recently saw this announced:

and the first thing I immediately thought of was the Deliverator.

  • Doesn't look fast enough.

  • sekret PM club

I'll agree with you there, given how the Deliverator drives.
