Pokémon is my primary game at the moment, trying to keep Saturday open for changes of pace so I don't go completely crazy. Though if I keep getting HAX'd on Battle Maison Thursdays, then I might just rage quit the regular Pokémon streaming part

If you like streaming RPGs, give up on Pokemon, and are open to suggestions, you could try streaming the one I consider to be the best game of all time. Though I may be the only one who thinks so... Megaman Battle Network 3.

I recently bought White, an SP, and a link cable so that I could get the four Mistman chips. I beat it, to the extent of beating the Time Trials, and then visited a friend and traded over those chips before lending him White, which he hasn't started yet. Currently at 14 gigachips. My next one will be BubbleManV5, but I'm HeatBug right now, so...
This will be the first time I have ever legitimately beaten AlphaOmega. Last time I used an Action Replay.

It has been a very long time since I last played it, but I might have to see if I can find my GBA when I get home from work. If your friend does play it, the duals can be a lot of fun.
One of the best parts of the game was that there was so much to do after you had "beaten it."

Biggest problem with GBA games is getting them into OBS.
The 3DS XL (which my capture card is installed in) doesn't really come with a slot to play GBA games :'(
And screw trying to hold the system in just such a way to make a webcam work.

Yeah, I'm well on my way to the sixth star. Just the fact that you have to beat the game, complete 5 separate difficult things, and then hold Left and press L L R L R L R R on the continue menu to even unlock the mission I'm on is crazy.
And then there's the mod codes: I only know two of them, but I know them: CNJDU2EM gives you +1k hp and makes the ground poisonous when you move, and GJHURIE2 gives you +350 hp with no downsides.
There are very few such things I can remember, but there are a few: To unlock Gallantmon Crimson Mode in a version 4 Digivice, the code was ROYBOY. To make the next encounter with a Pokemon Mew with a Gameshark, it was 019373D1 for red/blue or 0193EDD0 for gold/silver.

Well, the shiny hunt continues to elude me, so I might just start working on a Super Doubles team -- if anyone wants to nerd out over a team comp with me, feel free to chime in.
Thinking of basing the leads on Mega Sceptile (Lightning Rod, special sweeper) and a Discharge user... which would leave the question of which Discharge user. Raikou and Zapdos are kind of the two leading candidates, though both would be significant time investments (esp Zapdos, since I'd have to reset my Y and play through again), or getting a trade from somewhere...

Biggest problem with GBA games is getting them into OBS.
Played around with it to get it to pick up an emulator and succeeded, but that isn't exactly kosher.
I'm slightly dubious about how legal complete playthroughs are anyway, since even reaction videos require permission to have the full content in them. I imagine that commentary makes it safe, but OBS hates my mic and gets a bunch of background hum.

They seem somewhat alright with Pokemon and Smash Bros on Youtube, and I don't think Capcom, who make the game I'd be doing, would have too much trouble with a game in an offshoot of a franchise they've disowned...

Ah. I guess I stopped playing before doing so was actually profitable...
unless they changed things lately it still isn't for the campaign, it's only useful for multiplayer.

It can be useful for the later stages of the campaign, but generally still not necessary for "story mode".
It's very very useful if you want to try for the Battle Maison post-story combat area, since the AI will use max stat high-tier Pokemon (including some of the allowed legendaries) when you get to the Super modes and 30+ streaks (you get a trophy of sorts at 50 in each mode, plus special berries if you get to 100 and 200 in any mode).
And it's also a somewhat controllable way to get legit "shiny" (alternate coloration) Pokemon now, since you can get all the way to 1/512 odds through a couple factors. Which is what I was doing with the Eevee that I released :'(

hmm.... difference in terminology then. I don't consider post story stuff to be really part of the campaign so much as... well post story things you can do to keep you playing after the campaign and to give you places you can go to train up your pokemon for the muliplayer.

Yeah, I was using your definition of campaign.
You can get useful breeding done before beating the story. You also won't benefit that much from it (especially compared to time invested), because you can still just rofflestomp the story by being a few levels over and using the cover legendary you get along the way (Master Ball hyyyyyyyyype!).
But they definitely took a TON of the RNG / frustration out of trying to make competitive mons without resorting to hacking tools.

ah yes that is fun.
last time i made a run at the .... final four? the champion league?.... you know those guys you fight after you get the eight badgers.... anyway, i took them on with a single dratini, i probably should havbe let it evolve to at least dragonair, but it was just so darned cute! (and dragonite is FUGLY compared to dratini and dragonair)
where was i? oh yes! i roflstomped them all the way to the end because i was so much faster and the first four had no dragon types so they were all weak to my moves.
the last one though was a bugger... i'd only brought the one pokemon and he had similar leveled, evolved, dragon types... i made it in the end though. :-D

It means I've been spending time (mostly offstream, some on) generating and hatching eggs (approximate rate of 5 eggs per 8-10 minutes). Each of those has roughly a 0.2% chance of hatching as the "shiny", or alternate colored, version of the Pokemon.
The specific species I'm trying for at the moment additionally only has a 60% chance of preserving the ability I want when it hatches.
I actually succeeded at hitting my 853:1 odds hatch last night, but was multitasking and blew through the process of releasing my "next batch of 5 failures" without noticing that one wasn't a failure, until literally right after I couldn't cancel the release.
I had a little mini blakeyrage. Though I was streaming with the mic off yesterday, so the blakeyrage wasn't recorded for posterity.

Mostly when I'm shiny hunting, I chat with the two or three people that drop in about team building or similar PokeNerding. I've had the mic off the last couple days because my last cold of winter was kicking my ass and I sound like a scratching post getting worked over by a cat. And it doesn't really require a mic for me to interact with viewers in chat anyway, because egg-based shiny hunting is a fairly one-handed activity

Eh, the streaming thing is mostly a whatever for me at this point, because I have the capability to do it, and I figure if I actually do get regular viewers I can modify what I do at that point. In the mean time, I'm gonna do the things I like (Battle Maison post game, team building, and getting bling blingy versions of the fun ones), and so it shall go.
Besides, it's a great way to meet
