VB

  • I would argue it's virtually impossible to write good software in VB, but especially unlikely if you actually enjoy using VB. People who work in VB or any variant thereof are not programmers, they are circus chimps throwing feces into an IDE (or text editor) with their keyboards.

Those forcibly assigned are not included, since they probably want to drop an anvil on the genitals of the person who made them work in VB.

  • Alright, so you got my hopes up with an actual post where you needed help. You got the help.

But now you are going to be an asshole and troll the forums?

Please. Just grow up. If you want to be part of the forums, that is cool, welcome aboard.

    But this is just stupid.

  • Im confused. How is this inappropriate? Bashing a language on a board for developers?

It is called trolling. And it is not welcome.

Just out of curiousity, would you have been as upset if I had made negative comments about, say, COBOL?

    Yes.

Some people might disagree with you, particularly the author of this fine piece of software.

    Yes.

So if I understand you correctly, I must refrain from saying negative things about particular languages?

  • That is straight-up trolling.

I have been a full-time developer in VB 6 for many years. I've been able to do everything I needed to. The Windows API makes it possible to do whatever the language can't do on its own. The most recent application suite I developed in VB 6 is responsible for handling electronic fingerprint submissions and the incoming state and Federal responses. It runs on a central server, as well as on at least 3 client servers. IT DOES NOT CRASH. Now tell me how it's impossible again.

Just in case you think I can't stray from VB 6: All of my new software is developed in C#.

You didn't just insult the language -- you insulted the developers that use it:

I feel so dumb. That does indeed prove I was wrong. That is not just an application, its a love poem.

Point taken, I apologize. No more ad hominem insults.

This has nothing to do with languages. Stop trolling. You know you are just trying to start a flamewar.

    Go away troll.

  • Heck, even Linus Torvalds praised VB.

Ooohhh the irony of all those geeky Linux friends who babble about C all day and bash VB.

  • Flamewar! Flamewar! Flamewar!

C# suxx0rs, VB rulezz (and Tcl too!)!

Uhh, never mind. (Hint to the OP: most of us're tired of *-bashing (at least I think so).)

I may be a circus chimp throwing feces but my rent is paid and I have no debt so whatever. You're harmless and your ignorant opinions do not bother me.

    MsgBox "Have a nice day."

    Yes.

COBOL sucks, but the only thing worse are those idiots who use it. Am I right?!

  • Hey, a completely incorrect and ignorant stereotype about a large group. Are you writing the script for MFD 2.x or something?
