Flash error - what language is this system again?

  • While listening to a J-pop song about a capybara in Chrome, Flash crashed. Not too unusual... but here's the error dialog I got:

(And for the record, yes, my system is set to US English.)

Is it maybe possible in Flash to do something retarded like hard-code a window title in a language other than the user's system language?  But that's probably a Windows error message so maybe it's possible to do something retarded in Flash like over-ride titles of system messages?

  • I'm thinking memory corruption.

Now can we discuss how flash is TRWTF, and how the web needs to adopt HTML 5 as soon as possible, especially the audio, video and canvas tags.

  • Maybe flash was confused because of the Japanese band?

    Oh, and MySpace is TRWTF.

I only hate it in a professional capacity.

There's an impressive HTML5 version of Angry Birds. Problem is, no volume control.

  • I've played that version and I'm to the point where I need to collect all the stars and find all the chrome Icons.

  • Agree with memory corruption. Note that there are random rectangular boxes and an s in between the Chinese characters. Also,

    1. This is not Japanese (most likely doesn't make any sense in Chinese either)
    2. This would never be an intended caption of a message box. If it meant anything, it would be a whole story!

I hate Chrome in every capacity. Any software that is deliberately spying on me and my actions is not welcome here, especially if it doesn't inform me up-front and then offer me the option of allowing it to do that. That's why I use the Iron browser, which has all that "tell-Google-damn-near-every-keystroke-I-press" dreck removed at source code level.

    4. VLC does something similar by telling Windows it's going to dvd:// in ASCII which Win7 interprets as the UTF-16 equivalent which results in a two character Japanese/Chinese word appearring in the recent folders list. That's probably someone passing a UTF8 string to MessageBox instead of MessageBoxW, though any compiler would have detected that under most circumstances.

Er, isn't Iron the one made by the Chinese government?

      1.  Are you sure those are rectangular boxes and not the Chinese character that means "mouth"?

      2.  I can't find it now, but earlier today I watched a YouTube video of some sort of "China's Got Talent" TV show, and right in the middle of the running captioning at the bottom was an isolated letter S mixed in with the Chinese characters!

    8. I'm pretty sure those are rectangular boxes and not the character for mouth. It would look more like this 口

Pretty sure, yes. Because Chinese characters are full-width without exception, but these boxes are not full-width.

      Pics or didn't happen.

      I fucking love this, Blakeybird

Those pigs go such a cute widdle *hyul* when they get hit. Same for the OW AUGH of the red birds.

Be glad to.  Does anyone know how to find YouTube videos you watched once but didn't "favorite"?  They're obviously keeping track of that because I keep getting recommendations that say "because you watched 林宥嘉食客舞教學示範" (which in fact seems to be related to the same show).

    12. www.youtube.com/my_history

    13.  Thank you.  It's significant that YouTube doesn't have a link for that on the main page, or any sort of "help" facility to tell you these things.

The video is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4MJi3y-om3o, and the caption in question occurs at the eighteen-second mark.

(Next up for discussion: why do Chinese pop singers either not comb their hair at all, or comb it to look like Justin Bieber?)
