Too silly to leave in
One Post
.....

And what's with those counters?
-
What's really special is what happens when you leave out the trailing quote by accident:
<a href="http://google.com>http://google.com</a>
<a href="http://google.com>http://google.com
-
And what's with those counters?
Apparently, clicking a link bumps a counter on all links on the page pointing to the same target.
And when you do
<a href="http://pageone.com">pagetwo.com</a>
, Discourse inserts an empty<a>
element pointing topageone.com
. In this case, the empty element points to zombocom, which is also the target of the link above. In short, the counter behind the link is for this:
-
What about a link sentence containing a URL like http://zombo.com in the middle?
<a href="http://www.google.com/">What about a link sentence containing a URL like http://zombo.com in the middle?</a>
Doing the same in Markdown or BBCode work as expected, though.

Not the I noticed, more the placement of them....
-
more the placement of them....
The placement makes sense if you notice the left counter does not belong to the link on the right of it.

Wait, what's the MD5 of "http://"?
-
What does a fake mention do?
http://google.com
<a href="/users/nedfodder/" class="mention">http://google.com</a>
-
Wait, what's the MD5 of "http://"?

<a href="http://dbd7790bcd23fde7607101ef6a633779/>http://dbd7790bcd23fde7607101ef6a633779/</a>
<a href="http://dbd7790bcd23fde7607101ef6a633779/>http://dbd7790bcd23fde7607101ef6a633779/
It even replaces inside the code block, Jesus. View raw.
