Netflix Socks

Because you need something to keep your feet warm while you netflix and chill on these cold winter nights.
-
Since Netflicks is blocked, I can only guess based on the description you gave that they're making socks now?
Is it supposed to be symbolism in some way?
-
There's an Arduino in the socks which detects when you have fallen asleep and pauses whatever you're watching.
Yeah, I have never been more proud to be part of this civilization either.
-
Never again will you binge-watch yourself to sleep, only to wake up two seasons later wondering what happened.
That... never happened, because Netflix pauses the stream every hour or so? Or at least it does to me...
-
Arduinos are pretty awesome. xD
-
Compare Netflix Socks with this project to use a Pebble smart-phone identify seizures:
One of those two projects is worthwhile and a boon to humanity.

That sounds impressive if it works. It don't think it would work for me, since I'm typically considered semi-braindead while sleeping, but if the price point is good enough I might get some for kix and giggitles.

Why does this require a third-party non-free texting service? Is it that difficult to invoke a standard SMS nowadays?
-
If you read the directions, it's because Nazi Apple doesn't let iOS apps send texts, apparently. He says that Android may not require twilio, but he doesn't have an Android device available to test with.

If you read the directions
Oh crap, somehow I missed the precise sentence this was mentioned. No, make that the whole paragraph.
This is probably a direct result of my current system status... I'll try to be quiet.

Netflix has a site where (apparently) people can post descriptions of inventions that they would use to improve Netflix. This is one where you embed some sensors and a microcontroller into some socks which will automatically pause or stop playback if you don't move for an extended period of time (assuming that this means you've fallen asleep in front of the TV.)
It's an interesting concept, if it actually works. Not something I'm ever going to try, of course....

Turn off the screensaver.
No, really, from time to time we are hit with this sort of issues:
JIRA-123: After an hour app hangs and TV turns off.
Those are easy to close when the app is not on the TV (Roku, Chromecast, etc)
Usually TVs show a dialog before doing this but sometimes you can miss it.
