Testing TL4 deletion
-
Continuing the discussion from I don't think I should be able to edit someone else's post!:
I wonder what would happen if a TL4 tried to delete someone else's post.
-
Here's a test post to try and delete...
-
-
Huh. No permission to view the resource, but if you mash d, it gives you rate-limit.
-
-
And after 23 seconds...?
-
You can maybe DOS by holding d ...
-
strong text
-
Now try d-eleting the OP ...
Scary.
-
-
It showed you a restore button in a @pjh post? Bug or photo shopping?
-
Real bug. OP is than the other posts.
-
No idea. I'm just printscreening.
-
More weirdness:
Select menu => Select all:
Deselect a post:
Reselect the deselected post:
wat

The rate limit was my fault, I dosed the servers with fiddler and made Sam change it many moons ago.
-
-
Moving to bugs and cancelling the timer...
-
This is hilarious:
-
In a thread with hundreds of posts, if you click select all you have 100 posts selected. Then you deselect one of them, and you have 19 selected.
-
Wait, the limit is daily and yet it lets you try again in less than 24 hours? What does Jeff think "daily" means?
-
You've never seen the "We have a daily limit on how often that action can be performed. Please try again in 0 seconds." message?
-
-
This title is very misleading. Not a single TL4 was deleted!
I propose moving this topic into Meta > Features

Not at all. Testing was performed.

There shall be no tests performed on Discourse.

This is hilarious:
It kinda makes sense. If you are selecting an entire thread, you obviously don't want to move the posts to a new topic. What would be the point of moving an entire topic to an entire new topic? That's why you can rename and recategorize topics. But instead of just removing the topic, they replace it with the option of deleting the entire thread.
Deselecting a post show that there is at least one post you want to leave in the current topic, so moving to a new topic is once again a viable option. Before, when you reselected the post, there was probably a new post added to the topic, so a post was still unselected at the end of the topic, which would explain why the delete option wasn't displayed to you.
If you think about it, this is easy to figure out. I know it's easy to blame Duckhorse for everything, but sometimes there isn't anything to blame it for.

Did you knock your head when you fell off that ladder? You've been sticking up for Discourse ever since!

If only he fell out of a tree I had a brilliant pun but now it will just be saved for a later date.
-
16 == ALL == 17 makes sense to you?
Just FYI, that was a screenshot taken directly after reloading -> spanner -> select -> select all. No new posts were made.
-
Another Post vs Reply vs Topic Post thing?
-
No clue ...
And it might be hard to repro (which doesn't matter, because who cares).
-
Discounting, apparently.
-

There's always something to blame it for. It might not be the problem at hand, but there's always something.

I never said anything about the counts making sense. That only makes discosense. I was only saying that the delete bit you were complaining about made sense.
Hmm, maybe I should have replied to your first post about the problem instead …

Maybe. I … I can't remember!

Remember what?
I can't decide whether to go Treasure Planet:
And you are? … I want to say Larry.
Or Doctor Who:
I saw you before. But then I forgot. How did I forget? What are you?
