Software "awards"

Ever wondered why so many wtf programs get all sorts of software awards? Some guy did a little test...

Only 6 months late. I'm impressed.

Maybe we could hand out a Golden WTF Award once a year during a great show where prominent people like Paula Bean would be present and pointers would be given on how to write code that will once get you to their level of fame.

I don't see what's the problem of author of that article. His program was supposed to do nothing and it indeed did nothing - meeting the specs entirely. How's that not worth an award?
If I ever need a program that successfully does nothing, I'll remember to get that one.

Wow. Zero bugs. What a concept.

You could just use SSDS?

But if it doesn't run, you can't say it's doing anything at all. And if it's not doing anything, then it's doing nothing. So, even if it doesn't run, it's successfully doing nothing.

But of course, SSDS is much more adept at failing than awardmestars. I wonder how did I forget about this?

Why not? Afraid of that diabolical "Not a valid Win32 application"?

That's what made DOS so great. Slap an MZ at the front of a file, rename to whatever.com, and it'd do SOMETHING. Best to start with only a few characters, though...

That is a good thing?
Hmm My definition of good may need adjustment.
