The world's greatest screen shot application

  •  Just read:

When invoked this component will: Issue Alt PrtScr keystrokes which sends the current focused dialog's image to the clipboard.

Then the dialog's image is pasted from the clipboard to the mounted drive for your website.

Simultaneously a web page is generated after the mechanism to add comments before and or after the captured image is presented to the user through a dialog screen.

Then the location of the captured screen, generated URL, the graphic and comments are stored in a SQL Server database along with the actual dynamically generated html page.

This guy seems to be just another incarnation of SpectateSwamp. I'm especially liking his program "BCS Delphi Source Code Generator", which is... you know... aw... take a look at it yourself. Don't forget to read the comments.

(Here's the screen capture thing: http://cc.borland.com/Item/22922)

Edit: Why does the editor use a different stylesheet than the post itself? It' confusing. "If you're going to do WYSIWYG, do VERY WYSIWYG" (based loosly on a SpectateSwamp quote)

  • Here's another one: the page tells me

CDN Login Required to Download. (You will be redirected to the login page if you click on the Download Link) To download this, you must have registered:
    A free membership
And yet somehow, I can download the file fine without ever having registered.

  • Goddamn edit limit..

...and looking at both the apps, the UIs are somewhat confusing, what with the icons not necessarily representing what they do, they both have a dedicated palette button in the toolbar to change the application background, and they both have a clock in the task bar, "just in case" I presume.

I've seen it all before. "Cool, here's some code to make a clock. I know, I'll put it in my app, just because I can!"

Yeah, I've noticed that too... wtf...

  • His website is a bit odd as well. Only the home page has content and why on earth would you put a paypal donate button on such a page? Running with the pointless clock theme it also handily tells you "Page Dynamically Generated On Saturday, February 09, 2008 at 10:49:38." at the bottom.

  •  "In addition to mainframe technologies we employ Rapid Application Development (RAD) and Computer Aided Software Engineering (CASE) for numerous computing disciplines."

It's very simple. Throw some buzzwords on a slick looking $30 template website to reel in stupid small enterprises, then hack together code snippets that make it look like you just might be a good developer. I'm sure it works great on non-technical management types.

As for the "Donate" button, that's called desperation.

He even has a guestbook, something I haven't seen on any website not on geocities for about 10 years.

Holy guacamole can this guy blow some smoke:

"The workplace at BCS is an nexus for ideas and a forum for dialog and upward mobility while simultaneously improving technical expertise for all our employees."

I see he lives in Columbia, MO. That's only about a 3 hour drive for me to go there and backhand him for making developers everywhere look bad.

  • I'm especially loving "The BCS Delphi Source Code Generator generates Delphi project source code".

Phew!  I almost though it neutered kangaroos for a moment there.

And have you seen his "Testimonials" page? http://archbrooks.com/Testimonial.aspx

How sad, I cannot sign it, because either Firefox 3 Beta 2 or his website fail. At least in rendering the post to guestbook page correctly.

  •  Wow, that's the first website I know of to use BDB, then. And... is that VCL? Brillant!

  • I don't see any indication of VCL, just standard ASP.NET controls (you'd have to go through some elaborate hoops to use VCL controls on a web site).

    Nah.

SpectateSwamp would just video it in.

You're using BETA???? Real programmers use nothing but Alpha, two chopsticks, and a brick made out of pure water metal cement complaints!
