Dating profile portraits in MS Paint [Trigger warning]

  • Guy draws portraits of girls he meets on dating sites.

Christ! It's like some weird abstractionist's nightmare. Fucking hell put a warning on your threads.

  • Fake News

This guy really wants to get laid.

  • Still not convinced that the seventh "real" image is female. Also, as a "hook" - I don't think it is working. I'm not saying that it won't work, but I would be concerned about what would be landed. Assuming, as any piscatorial enthusiast would know, you bait according to what you want to catch.

  • The transgender thread is :arrows:

I've seen this kind of thing before, but none of these drawings.

I feel like I'm missing a joke on the one with Batman.

  • Jeez... I'm happy I don't have to do online dating anymore.

  • I've always wanted to try online dating just to see what sort of matches it would throw up. My better half keeps vetoing the idea though.

  • It really isn't worth it unless you're ridiculously attractive, speaking from experience.

  • Don't worry, I am.

  • Hence the name? 😉

  • That's another story. One I'll be happy to share once the statute of limitations has expired.
    🍖

  • ⚠ :wtf:

  • Some of these are horribly racist, but I doubt the person drawing them is himself racist, and is just trying to prove that his face is similar to that of the last image. All quite funny.

I've seen these before, including at least some of these specific drawings, somewhere; I'm pretty sure it was here.

    Do you need it explaining?

  • Isn't that a meme from like... 8-9 years ago? Man I remember seeing that blonde woman (whose portrait is just a scribble of blond with two eyes in the middle) ages and ages ago.

  • Oh, we bask in the glory of your wonderful almighty hipster memory!

    Need, no. Want, yes.

Looking at the drawing again, the woman's portrait vaguely reminds me of Jack Nicholson, but a Joker reference seems a long shot.

  • Ummm, 😊 if I said that I thought you were talking about a different batman joke (because these days I am jumping from topic to topic and sometimes forget where I am). And that I have no idea what the joke, if there is one, is (other than to say that possibly the "guy" attachted the wrong picture - the earings are missing. Would you accept the excuse gracefully?

    pleeeeeeeeeeeeeease KTHXBAI

  • I'm so glad I am not dating now.

    Yes.

But it's still a funny troll.

Matching is typically based on whatever psych questionnaire du jour the service uses. It can be both really good and really bad. It's usually just whoever is in your city, or people who are conveniently at least an hour's drive from you.

I'll try to give you the executive summary:

    1. You have a set of pictures of members of the opposite sex. Find one that appeals to you and move on to step 2.
    2. Now you're presented with this person's profile.
    3. If you think you two would be compatible (or you're not out of their league), roll a d10 and move to step 5 if you rolled a 10.
    4. If you don't think you two would be compatible (or you're out of their league), you can either go directly back to step 1, or roll a d20 and move to step 5 if you rolled a 20, anything less puts you back to step 1.
    5. This member of the opposite sex replied to your message! Now, it's time to write back. If the person looks average, roll a d20: 19 or less means that you will get another reply. If the person is above-average attractive, roll a d10: 9 or less means you will get another reply. Repeat as desired, and move to step 6.
    6. Some people prefer to have long conversations before meeting in person, while others prefer to cut to the chase. It's a different amount for each person, and difficult to discern correctly. Isn't information asymmetry awesome? Once you feel comfortable, you can roll at d10. If you get 9 or 10, move to step 7. Anything less puts you back at step 1.
    7. You're on your first date with this member of the opposite sex! Keep in mind that some people prefer something simple like a quick coffee date, but others want to be taken to a fancy restaurant to demonstrate your "intent." Roll a d10. If you got a 9 or 10, the date was a success and you can proceed to step 8. Otherwise, go back to step 1.
    8. Congratulations! You made it to date #2. This should be a different activity from date #1, because it's your job to provide stimulating entertainment. At this point it might be expected that things are getting more serious, but that also varies from person to person. Roll a d10 once more...

If you're the kind of person who can make a sales pitch 200 times, get rejected 197 times and not take it personally, online dating might work. Otherwise, it's just a massive waste of time and energy.

  • That's great, thanks for that.

Out of the 10-12 married couples my and my better half are good friends with 3 met through online dating so I was under the impression it was pretty straightforward. I suppose it's dependant on the site but I thought there'd be some more matching by interest rather than "this woman has a pulse and is within driving distance". Though I guess if someone's been unsuccessful on the dating scene for a while it helps to cast a wide net.
