Seriously? Whatever happened to "don't be evil"? Oh wait, wrong company. Still odd to see such an overt, textbook case of anticompetitive behaviour. But the funny part is the justification they give:
"Over the last three years, Prime Video has become an important part of Prime. It’s important that the streaming media players we sell interact well with Prime Video in order to avoid customer confusion. Roku, XBOX, PlayStation and Fire TV are excellent choices."

? That's always a lame excuse, but it doesn't even make sense here. Do customers assume that any random device they buy will support Prime Video? Including the (I assume) vast majority of customers who have never used Prime Video and only use Amazon for shopping? That's like refusing to sell iPhones because they can't run Android apps and people get confused.Oh, and there's also the "small" detail that both of these platforms, as I understand, are free to develop for, meaning the reason they don't support Prime Video is that Amazon didn't port their app there. I don't think there's anything Google could have done better here, short of outright making the Amazon Prime Video app themselves.

That's the best part, Prime Video isn't even available outside the USA. So I'm not allowed to buy a product I could use, because it's not compatible with a service I can't use. Talk about customer confusion!

Well, that makes it clear then: Amazon should either stop selling PlayStations and XBoxen, or stop selling Wiis, in order to avoid customer confusion of course. I mean, some consoles can stream Prime, some can't. We can't have that, it's confusing!

Apple TV isn't free to develop for (at least for the newest version that uses their tvOS), but they already have an Apple Developer account so it's not like they can't make an app to be on the new Apple TVs.
It's just a question if they tried and Apple denied it.
By the looks of it, the older Apple TVs would've required Apple to make the app for Amazon Prime streaming, and they either didn't or wouldn't for who knows what reason.

But I forgot that each Amazon website is mostly independent, so it means that the video I get from the .com Prime subscription, not from any Prime subscription, is not available outside the US.
Eh, still not supported in most countries so the point stands.

The Wii isn't on that list because Nintendo pulled the plug on all network applications for it.
The WiiU, on the other hand, has a working Amazon Video app, so it was probably just an oversight.

Random fact: I gave my brother a WiiU recently, and helped him do a system transfer from his Wii. Two days later, he was still in awe of the fact that "little flower guys" carried his data to the new system. (He's never played Pikmin).

It's not just stupid, but it's something that Microsoft never did, and Sony fixed before the PS3 came out. Which means they've literally a decade behind-the-times when it comes to e-commerce on their platform, and they've been fucking over countless customers ever since.

Nor is it possible to go chronologically backwards in terms of system generations, such as transferring data from a Wii U to a Wii, or going from a Nintendo 3DS to a Nintendo DSi.
Well, why not? I can play the same Xbox 360 game on both my (physical) Xbox 360 and Xbox One, and sync the saves between them at any time in both directions. (Not sure if Playstation supports this...)
If the original system is available and it is in working condition, there are self-service options that can be used to transfer the content from one system to another for the following situations:

Oh look, here's the case where you're fucked. Simply fucked up the ass. (Guess what Nintendo support tells you? Hint: they say "you're fucked".)
If Nintendo tied online purchases to the user account instead of the specific piece of hardware, you'd just be able to log into your replacement device and re-download all your games and DLC with no problems.
If Nintendo had cloud saves, you'd have your personal data backed-up too and wouldn't have to restart progress on all your games because your dog pissed on the Wii.
